I once was forced to go to the National Marine Museum by some coworkers, with no way to avoid it due to them being my only ride to our actual work-related destination
I mostly just took pictures of the particularly extreme open racism which, surprisingly, there was a lot of!
A literal cowboy-faced marine with a chiseled jaw with a rifle facing off against a generic Arabic man with a curved sword to symbolize global excursions (???), a writeup on the Japanese code of bushido next to depictions of kamikaze missions, a painting of the Boxer Rebellion complete with super fucking racist stereotypical depictions of Chinese people, rushing a small group of marines, with a cannon used to kill the real people right in front
And just, a whole pile of guns in every single direction
Fuckin' infuriates me to see Belgian Malinois used like this
They're brilliant dogs! Excellent trackers! Love to work! They would be so much better used for search and rescue than training them to maul folks!
I was on a backpacking trip a few weeks ago, and saw another group with a Malinois along. One of the people was stood out on a tree trunk that had fallen into the lake, getting ready to jump in, and the dog was having none of it. She kept trying to venture out onto the log and drag the guy back to safe dry land. Lots of frustrated yips. 12/10 heartwarming.
my old dog did that too, I think that's why she was always concerned about people going into the bathroom without her too, dangerous drowning chamber in there!
of course she loved the water herself, but no humans are too infant-like, they must be treated like baby dogs

Took me ages to realise that our middle dog wasn't just being a weird mouthy asshole whenever I came in from the surf, he was actually trying to take my hand in his mouth so he could drag me away from the crazy danger water.
I think he's finally accepted that people like to go in waves, though he would never be so foolish himself.
edit: The oldest one used to have huge sulking fits whenever my sister swam in deep water. Now she just wades out to shoulder height and 'llamas' (ie stretches her neck up as tall as she can) to keep a protective eye on us.
Absolutely none of them would be any good at performing a rescue, I don't know what their emergency plan is.

It's fucking incredible to me that they can't help themselves
Like literally white people would get bored and go home if things were quiet for a few days
This country couldn't even manage to keep our mind on a deadly pandemic for very long before we were like "Okay that's enough of this, let's just get back to normal"

I had a dog as a kid that I "taught" to swim by going out into the lake and briefly diving below water. He would get so worried that he'd immediately plunge all the way in and come out to drag me back to shore (and he was a massive Rottweiler; that was well within his capabilities). Once he got out to me he would generally just turn around and swim back, occasionally with me hanging off his shoulder for the free ride, but after long enough doing this he eventually started swimming for like, fetching sticks or whatever (sometimes even without me pretending to drown first).

The national media is really being derelict in their duty by not reporting that there have been protests DAILY ACROSS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY and only ever covering it when there is a violent response by law enforcement.

This is definitely also part of it
Their not reporting the protests, only the violent reaction, means that to huge swaths of the country these protests only exist while there is violent conflict
The violent conflict stops, and the country never even realizes it's still going on

All I'm saying is that I, an idiot, could handle the response to this better than virtually every precinct and local government in the entire country.
I just realized that Portland will be reaching 69 straight days of protests in a couple of days and I am slightly concerned about some people protesting while also memeing about the Sex Number

Why don't they make a museum for them?
Stop making good boys do hate crimes you animals
I believe that’s called an aquarium, sir
But yes, a museum dedicated to seals over the ages would be excellent. At least like, a big exhibit in the natural history museum

that sure sounds to me like a credible, specific threat on a man's life

They're all bad apples now
The US Naval Special Warfare Command, which is in charge of the SEAL teams, has started an investigation. Supposedly they didn't know about this until the video came up last night.
Between this and the Drunk seal unit they had to pull out of Iraq, it's almost as if the United States military has a discipline problem
