    ME2 Firewalker: choose your squad!

Me: the only two people on this ship prepared to handle how I drive are Garrus and Tali

Garrus & Tali, probably: oh no

Plot Twist: Garrus and Tali love the Firewalker while Shepard hates it with every fiber of his being.

In ME3, Cortez thought it was left behind, but Shepard actually jettisoned it into the sun on his way back to Earth. "Oops, my finger slipped."
What if this is why Gardner doesn't appear? He sneaks off to take naps in the Firewalker because nobody ever touches it. Then one day...

I had issues with some dialogue in ME1 on series x, cutting off the start of sentences. Nothing in 2 and 3

Also looks like the third rekindle a romance achievement didn’t pop when it should have, just like the first two achievements, lucky I made a save just before the sequence because I knew I’d have to redo it. What is it with achievements and them being so hard to program in so many games. There’s a few that I’m worried about not unlocking at all and others that only unlocked after I did the damn thing twice (saren boss fight on legendary twice grrr)

There’s been mentions of a patch fixing it but I’m just sick of this kind of shit, I’m one of the idiots who really cares about achievements as a record of my progress (I know it’s stupid I just do), and this kind of stuff really sours me

Does anyone not let the guy know he’s working too hard?

I didn't on my last run because I felt like having a slightly longer fight at the end to offset engineer supremacy.

Ok that's kind of what I was thinking. ME1 had a notorious audio bug where sound would just start cutting in an out like a CD skipping.

I think I also experienced what you're talking about a couple of times and I kinda chuckled because ok well, they didn't fix it entirely, but at least it no longer makes me freak out and think my PC's audio output is randomly dying all of a sudden

For fucks sake this slow walk at the end of 3 on insanity is such bullshit. I hate when they don’t adjust shit like this for higher difficulties. It’s essentially a mini game and has sucked all the build up out of the sequence since I’ve don’t it like 5 times now and it’s so slow and bullshit gah

Gah finally done the moment after I complain

Did you take every possible paragon option with TIM? Sometimes you had to pick the left option to get more dialog before they came up.

I must have missed one? I always tried to choose the left option to bring up all the paragon options, I must’ve missed one. That’s a bummer way to end my “perfect” paragon run. Ah well, kind of pissed that some of the achievements haven’t unlocked and so I’m soured and in a foul mood now. Renegade emotion! Seriously going through the whole game on insanity only for it not to unlock the achievement was a bummer

And yeah I had full war resources.

Must have just not done a left dialogue option and that must’ve skipped one dang paragon opportunity

So if ME4 is a direct sequel to 3, what do people think
will be the canon ending? Or like how will they adjust the story to continue on? It would I assume be the Blue options since the Green option is too perfect. Unless it gets corrupted or ruined somehow.

Weird, I also didn’t get the kill 2000 enemies achievement, which means it also probably wasn tracking right, since I’ve played 1 twice, and beaten 2 and 3 doing every mission in them and all the dlc. Man, I’m so dumb for this souring me, but it totally has. Like I know they’ll probably fix it, but I want my 100%. Apparently the tracker resets if you go back to 1 after playing 2. It’s just so dumb, how do you program an entire legendary edition and do all that work and not get a kill tracker to work right

You don't program an entire legendary edition, You mash together three existing programs and hope they work like they're supposed to because half of the people who made it in the first place and know how it works aren't around any more.
Thus things like removing achievements also removing store flags, and so on.

You need to have taken literally every paragon convo option with TIM every time you have spoken to him in ME3. Some of them show up as responses to investigate convo branches.

That's one thing I really liked in ME3. There's a lot of stuff where particular choices you've made mean a lot more for stuff than just what you paragon/renegade score is. Persuading the Virmire survivor at the end of Priority: Citadel II runs the full gamut from auto-pass through various rep requirements to literally impossible depending on choices you made.

    I’d bet on red.
We can clearly see it’s not green. The trailer seems to show part of the Citadel, which indicates that it blew up. The “is anyone receiving this, we’ve lost all contact” sounds like a fragmented galaxy after the relays were destroyed. It could be blue, but the lost contact thing seems to point against that. The other possibility is of course yellow - that could certainly be interesting.

Gah this hijack achievement is a pain in the ass, turning off squad mate powers, sending them elsewhere, and I can’t get the sweat spot where my shot doesn’t just blow up the mech, even on higher difficulties it always seems to blow up. And it’s the one on the academy which is supposed to work

Woo got it. The old “post complaining and then do it in next try” trick

They put some real money into putting scenes for Citadel, being the last DLC. Seeing Shepard's hangout scene with Kaidan single-handedly almost made me actually want to keep him after Virmire with how full of actual personality it was, in no small part due to all the small animation subtleties they fit into the scene.

Certainly if Kaidan had been more of the casual jokester comrade-in-arms rather than the most tofu of Nice Guy, I'd be more inclined to keep him around

Edit: and the scene actually works in Mark Meer's favour because his more deadpan delivery is so tonally perfect for how much Shepard is taking the piss in the scene

They're going to go with the Reject ending, which is why Liara is in the trailer. She Shadow Broker'd some stuff and it's a bare minimum crew that's trying to escape The Harvest and make it to Andromeda.

    Obviously.

Weird, I beat ME2s final boss again on insanity, that unlocked the 2nd insanity achievement and both my missing paramour achievements (even the one from 3 that hadn’t unlocked). Tried ME3 ending again on insanity, nothing. So I went back and did 1s ending on insanity and it unlocked the “beat all 3 games on insanity” achievement

Whatever the tracker is for those achievements, it is borked

I think those achievements just need you to do that stuff "across 3 games" they never specify that they have to be each game. So you can cheese them.

I think Long Service Medal is the only one where you specifically need to finish each one.

it could have killed Shepard at any point, or not raised the platform up. Unless it was programmed to have no choice, but then it would presumably also then not lie? My guess is they will go with you killed the reapers but all other Ai and tech is fine.

It'll probably just be a retcon. But tbh the stuff about all AI life just felt like something that was tacked on to make all the endings equal so eh.

Either way Destroy will probably be chosen cause it changes the status quo the least while getting the Reapers out of the way.

The hubby is asking about how ME3 starts, without watching Arrival
Him: You don’t get resurrected again, right?
Me: Nope, I’m currently awaiting trial.
    Him: (Jokingly) For War Crimes?
    Me: Yup
    Him: Wait, what?

Also, while I do like how Admiral Hackett looks, I liked him as better as a faceless voice in ME1. There was some sort of mysterious voice aura that he had going on.

So for you Mass Effect collectors (heh) out there, I just picked up a Classics edition (probably Platinum Hits elsewhere) of ME1 on the 360 for about the price of a coffee. The reason is that it comes with a bonus disc you can't get elsewhere, and I wanted to see what was on it.

First and foremost, it's not backwards compatible; you'll need an actual Xbox 360 to run it on.

I also dug out the pre-order bonus disc that I got with my original pre-ordered 360 CE to compare it. By comparison the pre-order disc is bare-bones, there is far more stuff on the Classics bonus disc, although much of the content is, almost surprisingly, unique to each disc so it's worth having both.

The Classics disc includes an introduction by Casey Hudson, seven documentaries that total roughly 1 hour and 17 minutes, 20 tracks from the ME1 soundtrack, design galleries with over 600 images, some exclusive packs of 360 profile pics, a theme (designed for the first NXE dashboard), and just about every trailer you could imagine from the initial reveal trailer onwards. It also includes Bring Down the Sky as an installable extra (nice since it was, and I think still is although at a much reduced price, paid DLC on the 360).

All the documentaries and trailers are of course on Youtube these days, and the 360-dashboard-level stuff is of limited use now, etc etc, but it's a really nice little piece to have for my little collection of Mass Effect stuff, especially for the trifling price.

Because it's a reaper. It's the core reaper intelligence/directive/architect. It doesn't control the crucible, it's just communicating to Shepard remotely. It doesn't want any of these choices to be made, but it wants some less than others. Destroy kills all the reapers so it lies to Shepard and says it'll kill all her new robit buddies too in an effort to make it not be chosen.

This headcanon came about because of how stupid the entire ending is and how it doesn't make any sense. The brain protects itself by chucking out all the horseshit and going with the obvious easy answer.
