360 and region lockouts

Hi

I'm planning on buying a 360. I live in Japan, but English is my first language. I'm worried about whether I can download games like Settlers of Cataan from Live in English.

I have a friend here who has a Japanese 360 but a UK account, so he has no problems with things like this - for the purposes of Live he is in the UK. I know from him that I can buy lots of NTSC-J Asian releases (meant for Singapore etc) if I want English games on discs, but it's the downloaded stuff that I worry about.

So, to sum up - can I download games like Settlers of Cataan to a Japanese 360?

I figure I could take a bear.

Microsoft policy seems to be to allow you to download stuff from foreign regions (using a corresponding Live account registered for that region) unless the content producer specifically wants to restrict access to specific countries, in which case the content will only download to a system whose hardware is from the right region.

Update: Catan is available in all regions: http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/05/02/arcade-catan.aspx

The Major Nelson blog announces all new Live content, so you should be able to search his posts for the regions in which any other content might be available that you are interested in.
