So is he asking the Academy to consider Laura Dern for an Oscar, or asking Laura Dern to consider this sweet cow he's got?
He wanted Laura Dern to be nominated for his movie Inland Empire
The cow may or may not be a reference to Inland Empire (the place) being a center for dairy farming, though cows and dairy farming are not present in the movie
In an NPR interview, Dern recounted a conversation she had with one of the movie's new producers, Jeremy Alter. He asked if Lynch was joking when he requested a one-legged woman, a monkey and a lumberjack by 3:15. "Yeah, you're on a David Lynch movie, dude," Dern replied.
If you asked me the most positive married couple in movies or tv I'm going to go with Gomez and Morticia.
In college, I got to take several History of Theater courses from John Astin. He’s the absolute loveliest dude, and one hell of a teacher.
(One of those courses was specifically about radical leftist theater during the labor strife of the early 20th century. Astin is one of the good ones.)
Some of my comfort films:
Real Genius
Robocop
Heavy Metal
Big Trouble In Little China
Ronin
Aliens
Major League
Love Actually
Bring It On
Con Air
Rock & Rule
Uncle Buck
It's been forever since I've seen this but "There are dinner jackets and dinner jackets, this is the later" is literally the hallway point of the movie, I know I didn't like most of the Venice scenes but what the hell do they spend the other hour and 8 minutes on.
Edit: I forgot that hour and 8 minutes included a machete stair fight, I'm back in.

My one indulgence this season was the Criterion sale
The Complete Lady Snow Bird
Sisters (first time watch)

Everything post ball-tickling feels like a different movie. Like when Vesper first betrays everyone with the account number Bond comically misreads her tears as an invitation to bone town. Or M talking about how Vesper must have made a deal to keep them alive even though Bond was the person with the code to the $100 million. That last 15 minutes feels like meddling.
If vampires made their own movies, how many of their horror trailers would be scored to a sad girl cover of The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow?
I don't think they would use sad girl covers as I feel vampires would have a rather schadenfreude style of humor with inside jokes and such
Horror movies made by vampires would be artful thrill of the hunt. With how the overwhelming paranoia breaks down the person giving themself willingly to the vampire
It would be horror for normal humans and porn for vampires
A horror movie, aimed at upsetting a vampire, would be like that one gif of the truck driving towards the metal pole, but never hitting it.
Only, it would be someone counting something, or using an abacus, or whatever. But never finishing the count.

my favorite bit of retroactive recognition re Christine Baranski was realizing that she was in the Central Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream that was on A&E back in the 80s. The one with William Hurt and oh yeah, some guy named Kevin Conroy.

Joking aside, I always knew Baranski as "The much Hotter friend of Cybil Shepard in 'Cybil'".
The Dark and the Wicked, available now on demand and to rent, is an unrelenting bleak depressing 95 minute experience directed by Bryan Bertino (The Strangers) about this presence (a demon? the devil? Death itself? the concept of grief?) utterly destroying an entire family for not letting their dying dad go
I absolutely loved it
Marin Ireland's great performance feels reminiscent to (albeit a way more exhausted and desperate to hold onto anything she can) Essie Davis in Babadook

This and Possessor are the two rentals I’ll likely splurge on when I get the time. I hope somebody picks up Skull: The Mask, as all the festival buzz seemed to indicate it being my type of jam.

Aquaman was on the TV during breakfast.
Arthur Curry having a detailed knowledge of ancient Greek kings has the exact same energy as Homer Simpson being an expert on the history of the United States Supreme Court.
I love it.

A surprisingly large amount of this movie revolves around people, like, really wanting to fuck Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in their mid-70s
Including Christine Baranski, which is extra upsetting
She's playing this surly, dirtbag biker type, while still being Christine Baranksi and a total smokeshow, but it's all directed at Walter Matthau
It's really troubling
I like to pretend that Walter Matthau just never had sex

This is Morticia levels of horny.
If Christine Baranski goes to the beach a gaggle of dudes will fall at her knees.
Wait, what? That wasn't choreographed?
I'm pretty sure Zonugal is doing a Bit.
I thought he was an insider or something like a few other guys who post here.
After I watched that Mamma Mia clip, Youtube led me to Goofy Movie - Eye to Eye.
Just gonna ride this algorithm until it leads me to white supremacy.
Uhhh... Yeah, yeah!
Yeahhhh
I thought you were a writer or producer or something.
So, third clip in this algorithm is Shrek - I Need a Hero.
No white supremacists yet!
Thats a good night right there.

God I love this scene so much. It tells you so succinctly about how this world views John Wick, and it's just such a funny scene
"Oh." *hangs up*
The Strangers is still the scariest movie I've seen and it isn't particularly close, so this is going to the front of the queue
