So, this is following my saga of trying to get my computer up and running again after this experience.

So I'm on my second hard drive now, getting everything set up. I turn on my external hard drive, which houses all of my media files, for the first time since I began having problems. It detects the drive, knows what it is. However, it's telling me that the drive is not formatted and needs to be. Wtf is going on? I can't lose this drive, it's like 200 gigs of video and audio that are essentially irreplaceable. Any suggestions?

Chances are, this can be fixed easily with Disk Management. Go to Start --> Run --> type in "diskmgmt.msc" and click OK. This will launch a Window with your disks. In the bottom pane, You'll see the physical disks with their partition information. Right-click on the disk you need to work with ON THE LEFT SIDE. (Where it has the name of the disk, the type, total size and status). If you have an option labeled "Import Foreign Disks", choose that. You may also need to choose "reactivate disk" if the disk isn't online. Whatever you do, don't format or "Initialize" the disk. If it helps, I can try to post screenshots.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

Yeah, I don't see any of those options when I right click the drive.

The disk manager is showing it as completely empty. Blah.
