Except for the raids where you gotta stand in the fire to not get killed by ice. Or to get the damage buff. Or soak the mandatory damage so the raid doesn't die.

Gotta keep things fresh for the live learns.
My favorite was the one in the Argent Coliseum: Check your debuff, stand in stuff that's the same color, don't stand in stuff that's the other color.

Final Fantasy XIV does that kind of thing quite often. haha
To be honest, there are so many kinds of indicators in MMOs these days, that a player needs to know much more than just "Don't stand in the bad." The one saving grace is that the developerss have been mostly consistent over the years so if you've been playing for a while you know, for example, which marker over your head needs to go away from everyone and which one needs to be brought into the crowd. But man, they come up with some creative mechanics nowadays.

FFXIV at least has the common decency to use an intuitive mix of color and directional arrows to help players know where to move and where to stand. Generally in that game red zones are bad and blue zones are good.
In WoW, there's no such help. You just gotta try it and die in it to know. There's no consistency at all for the graphical representation of soak pools vs bad pools vs stack pools, etc.
Fun fact (and this might have been fixed). WoW only updates a player position while they are on the ground. So if your goal is to run out of the fire and you want to CoolGuy™ it by jumping out, you will take more damage since the game will think you are in it longer. This was common on the Heigan fight in Nax since even a single tick could kill you.

I haven't played WoW since the Mists of Pandaria days, but I think the raid boss I remember most mechanic-wise was Durumu because he covered the arena in purple mist and you had to find the tiny little path -- which you could only see a little of at a time --and follow it if you wanted to stay alive. And if I remember correctly you could hit dead ends even if you did find the path. Good times... lol

And you left off the profanity.
Stand in the fire; DPS higher.

There are samurai but no ninjas, so fortunately you don't have to light yourself on fire

That hasn't been the case in many expansions now
