I was just thinking about this with what's going on with Suisei. She's free to keep streaming and get paid whatever her base Cover wage is while the businessfolk take care of the bullshit affecting her monetization but an independent would have to spend every waking hour hounding Youtube to try and figure out what the fuck was going on since they would lose all of their income from such a thing (unless they had a Patreon or something on the side, of course). And if we're talking about an independent in Kiara's situation, they probably would have just been fucked wholesale.
Anyway, came in here to point out Calli's new song premiered and it's basically a shot across the bow that I presume will stir up some drama:
YouTube's auto mod actually did terminate several indie VTubers before going after Kiara. They were given the runaround for weeks and only got their channels restored after one of the oldest translators of Hololive content called them out on the favoritism and got the people outraged over Kiara's termination outraged over theirs as well.
I mean, there was that small Vtuber who did get wiped out in a similar fashion to Kiara, around the same time. Did they ever get their channel back? YouTube and Twitch moderation is completely out of control because they don't tell you what was SPECIFICALLY against their rules because they've designed shitty tools that don't tell them. So when it false flags something, you just get a response that "we looked at this issue (lie) and you did indeed break the rules (double super lie)." There really really needs to be a large class action suit against both platforms that breaks a few kneecaps to where they bring moderation to a reasonable place where you're actually notified why you got in trouble and a human will actually look at your defense if there's a false flag.
