How to clean a boot that smells like gasoline

No-QuarterNo-Quarter Nothing To FearBut Fear ItselfRegistered User regular
I work maintenance and got gas on my pants/ a single boot while working with a snow blower.
The boot is porous, too, so it's soaked into the fabric.

Any idea how to clean this or get the smell out?

My immediate thought is hot water and vinegar, if only because vinegar gets every smell ever out of everything.

Unless it's a leather boot (which would ruin the leather) a hairdryer in a well ventilated space will also work. Gasoline evaporates at pretty low temperatures.
