Stupid Bluetooth question

I recently bought a Bluetooth USB adapter for my desktop (BT4.0), which now enables me to connect my wireless earbuds for discord voice AND music. At least, that's what I thought. I noticed there are two devices that appear when the earbuds get paired with my PC: the earbuds (Stereo) option, and the earbuds (Handsfree) option. The former has better audio, but no mic; the latter is the reverse. I tried poking around and have read several support items regarding Bluetooth headsets not having enough bandwidth to process both good stereo music and voice at the same time (not sure if it's true, though).

My question would be - is that really the case? And if it is, if I were to buy a separate bluetooth mic, would it allow me to enjoy both good audio and voice at the same time, or is the fact that both are connecting via the same USB dongle not fix anything?

My headset has a “game” and a “voice” channel - I can set discord to play people speaking through the ‘voice’, and my default PC audio through the ‘game’ device.

Have you tried something like that? Set discord to play audio through the handsfree and use that mic, and leave the Windows default on the Game device?

sadly, for most bluetooth headphones, its an either/ or thing. If you want good quality audio in the earbuds and you don't want to replace them, consider getting a nice mic for your desk. You will have much better audio quality and because your audio is being routed through the earbuds, the mic won't pick any of that up.

it is a technical limitation on bluetooth currently. Although I think it is getting changed soon.

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say

Yeah, looks like I'm out of luck with settling for an all-in-one package. Thanks, everyone, looks like dedicated headphones + a separate mic is the plan at this point.
