The Egg Salad / BLT and Philly Cheesesteak / Sloppy Joe matches took a bit of thought though but ultimately I'm pretty sure the best sandwiches won.
Egg Salad versus BLT was the easiest choice on there!
The nordic shrimp on rye is so different from every other sandwich on here that it is hard to even call it a sandwich in the american sense of the term.
The rye is just a platform for a mountain of delicious shrimp. And I am sad it is going up against my favorite format of cue in sandwich form.

The BLT is clearly a superior sandwich, full S tier, but a good Egg Salad (not some wheel of death vending machine one) is objectively A+ and a personal favorite.
Egg sandwiches are the last sandwich left in the hospital canteen. I've only eaten them in times of emotional distress.
When you make them yourself and are in control of the consistency, seasoning, etc - when you toast the bread, and put some thin sliced red onion, lettuce and tomato on it...
It's a good sandwich.
Cafeteria egg salad sandwiches are a curse I would not wish on anyone.

A good po-boy is obviously better than a grilled cheese, but I had to vote grilled cheese for the versatility. They're like the Brandon Inge of sandwiches.
Now that I think about it a good egg salad sandwich is basically a BLT where you sub out the bacon for hard boiled egg and mix the mayo into it instead of spread it on the bread.
The bacon is arguable the least needed part of a BLT - a tomato sandwich is v. good made the same way - and while other meats can be substituted in for bacon nothing can replicate hard boiled eggs.
I mean I love bacon but people go overboard with it.
And, as I have often done, adding a couple of warm slices of bacon to a toasted egg salad sandwich is fkn glorious.

There’s probably only three unimpeachable sandwiches on this list and two of them are the Cuban and Reuben

I don't even eat lobster rolls and i couldn't bring myself to lie and say a meatball sub is as good or better
Size of meatball / did they cut it in half? is basically the main yardstick to judge different subs by. Subway's meatballs aren't great, or anything, but fitting neatly into the bread / my gullet is a big mark in their favor.
A good place slices the meatballs.
many of the best meatball subs use traditional, very large meatballs which are sliced to create a flat layer that covers the hoagie.

Cafeteria egg salad sandwiches are basically all I ate my last year or so of college. I was the only one of my friends on the campus meal plan, so I'd pick food up on the way to or from class and then eat with my buds. They only had like five different togo options, and egg salad was the only acceptable one.

I was hoping to avoid this question because I know I'll catch flak for it.
I chose cuban because I've never had a reuben. But I'm also confident I wouldn't like a reuben because I don't like sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing is pretty meh for me (though significantly better on sandwiches than on salads).
Whereas I have had cubans before and they're fucking delicious.
