First, if you’re like me, the very first thing you’ll think is, “wait... she was still alive?”

She was! 104 years old!

I grew up reading the crap out of the Henry Huggins books, Mouse and the Motorcycle, and the Ramona and Beezus books.

104 is a hell of a run though! I thought she had died like 20 years ago

    Beverly Cleary shaped my childhood in a big way. The Mouse and the Motorcycle was one of my favorites. That fuckin’ ping pong ball helmet is a detail that has stuck with me for like 35 years.

    Need to buy some Cleary for my nieces this year.

    For years I thought that you couldn’t bring any outside food into hotels because I remember that was something that happened in the Mouse and the Motorcycle
