You do have a metre to manage in Sunbreak, and it's most devastating move can get you killed very easily, as you literally stab the sword into the monster, then rev it like a chainsaw, while riding the monster.
The biggest additions are the 2-Stage-Morph-Sweep (Wild Swing -> Morph to sword -> morph back to axe) which give you MASSIVE sword ammo + Amp gauge buildup and the Elemental Burst Counter.
2-stage is a switch skill, the counter is a silkbind and locked behind Sunbreak 5 star quests.
It also benefits pretty massively from the Rapid Switch skill, which boosts your morph speed and morph attack damage by up to 30% at max ranks.

Possible internal leak of Capcom stuff, gives MH Wilds a Q1 2025 release (and a possible name for the DLC that goes hard as fuck)
Yeah, I remember having a blast hanging out with friends in discord while fighting behemoth. It was the most engaged in teamwork I've ever felt in monster hunter.

Did Behemoth’s fight in MHW mirror an encounter in FF14? Or did Capcom just do their own thing? Do we know if Bahamut would even work the same way mechanically? It is a very different monster.

a bit from column a and b. it was a very cool concept, but then it had a very challenging hardmode version for layered armor that was a bit rough until you either got a group that could handle it or people got more used to it.
when i fought a behemoth in FF16 i was like oh it's the guy from monster hunter

If you can’t regularly fill the Spirit Gauge with the Long Sword throughout the fight, you should probably pick a different weapon. It’s the reason I’ve never really gone anywhere with LS, or with Great Sword.

MonHun, FF14, and Kojima all do really great collabs.
Isla del Monstruo in Peace Walker is amazing. While I always felt I could see the difference, the Capcom rep found Kojima's Rathalos model and texturing so authentic he was shocked by the reveal that Kojima's team had made it themselves. BBQing rations is hilarious.
The Boss, Naked Snake, and Palico Solid Snake Sneaking Suit armors in 4U were authentic and fun. When crouched in the Sneaking Suit, palicos don a cardboard box!
The Elezion fight (Elder dragon from Frontier Online) and Tower 3/Forlorn Arena were perfectly recreated in PSO2JP. I had the carving, BBQing, and potion chugging lobby actions. Pretty sure the models and animations were donated by Capcom, because they were absolutely flawless.
Not having played World, I can only say that the impression I get is the Behemoth fight was tough but as authentic as could be within MonHun, and quite the spectacle.
Odin from FF14 was added 1:1 to PSO2, all mechanics intact, with its FF14 fight arena and prep zone. It can even appear randomly in stages as a "F.A.T.E.", complete with the real FF14 graphic for those events. The models, sounds, and animations appeared to be donated by Square-Enix.
Given the history of successful, high-quality stuff on both ends, I imagine if Bahamut were to appear in MonHun, it would be just as amazing.
Dang, its been long enough since Iceborne that picking up Rise, it feels outright frustrating again.

Waffling between swax (my World main) and SNS.
I know I can't get away with full axe and not giving a shit about amp or sword as much in MHR as I did in World, so I'm not sure how I'll feel about it until I practice how to play it more.
SNS I'm not sure about yet either. Struggling to stay on target with the short reach and not end up misaligned when I do backhops, and I can't get into to flow of combos because the Y+B for the finisher or roundslash feels awkward. Though I guess I can make a A+B button through Steam input or my 8bitdo Ultimate's software...
Goddamnit, Afflicted Tigrex, give me your Afflicted Dire Slogbones! They're a 40% additional chance on any stupid carve, plus quest rewards, and I just got a grand total of one from a recent run. These 8th slots aren't going to unlock themselves!
In Focus Mode, hunters will have more precise control over how they guard, aim, and attack in order to target a monster’s weak points for big damage. Focus Mode makes it easier to adjust your distance to the monster and aim your attacks, making the distinctive Monster Hunter hunting action more accessible to a wider variety of players.
Some weapons will also feature distinctive moves that can only be used in this mode.
Hook Slinger
A new version of the slinger has been added to the hunter’s standard equipment in Monster Hunter Wilds. Use it to collect items from a distance, even while on the back of a Seikret. Some contextual actions using the slinger can also be activated from a distance.
We can’t wait for you to see how all of these systems come together to make for a truly evolved hunting experience that retains the depth the series is known for, while providing new and exciting ways to hunt.
I'm surprised that the player is able to use the bowgun on their mount in the trailer, I wonder how balanced that would be.
Also I was sure they would just thrown in a old monster in the trailer but nope. Pretty cool, almost everything shown is new!
Also, voiced PC AND Palico!

Or dual blades for dual blades
But I'm already imagining a scenario where you dump a bunch of status effects with LBG or rain down explosives with HBG > melee > mount > rinse & repeat
Or whats stopping players from kiting monsters
Building in weapon swapping onto mounts doesnt really shcok me, given they've already allowed it via camp and fast travel (Whcih has been incredibly acessible in Rise and World both thanks to farcasters being cheap and easy to make, and easy to use, meaning a quick escape is always at your finger tips)
ngl had to laugh because I'm getting "we're just your average 80s American teenagers Isekai'd into Monster Hunter" vibes from the characters in the first couple of seconds of the trailer.

I thought the first three characters had more of a "hipster in a coffee shop" vibes.

I'm absolutely excited that the trailer/characters have several nods to MH4, some are so blatant that it's very possible that some of the characters we saw, are actually characters from MH4.
I really hope this means we get a bunch of MH4 monsters, like Dahren Mohran, Tetsucabra, Zamtrios... I'm already getting hyped.

apparently the direction for the game is towards a more unforgiving environment
the other thing they mentioned is that the Chatacabra attaches materials to its arms to strengthen itself
Nothing more except underlining the fact that the game is still deep in development

I really like the Doshaguma's design, it's very classic manticore IMO, like a fucked up lion with a slightly too human face. I've heard it mentioned there hasn't been a flagship monster so far but Doshaguma has been in two vids so maybe they're the flagship XD
