I had a dream of someone standing over me
I had a dream of someone standing over me. I always have this feeling when I go out of my room that I’m being watched but I only ever feel that way when I’m home alone.
Before I fell asleep the feeling of being watched was stronger than ever and my animals were acting super strange. My cat was laying as close as he possibly could next to me and was meowing while staring at the foot of my bed. My dog on the other hand stood at my doorway and refused to come in my room and he normally sleeps with me so I found it a bit odd. He kept growling and giving out little whines while he also stared at the foot of my bed.
I don’t even know how I fell asleep. It was like I was more tired than I normally was. In my dream, there was a tall shadowed man that was holding a knife. I couldn’t see any features it was as if he was a shadow. He stood at the foot of my bed and stared at me. Right before he lunged at me my dad had gotten home and I woke up to him. But the weird part is, is that the guy in my dream was inhumanly tall and was repeating my name. His voice was extremely deep and had a rasp to it. I told my dad about it and he told me it was just my imagination but I don’t think it is. It all felt too real and the way my animals were acting is what proves that it’s something more. If anyone has any answers to this please reply.
Also, The feeling of being watched happened a few months ago but this was the first time I’ve had a dream.

In any case, be it sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucinations, or some other thing. Its extremely unlikely that its a demon from another plane of existence that is looming over you. The anxiety of this thing can contribute to more of it too. So hopefully, understanding what is happening can help you reduce your anxiety and thereby reduce the occurrence.
I used to have bad sleep paralysis in high school when I was dealing with problems sleeping in general. My best advice is to get blackout curtains so it's 100% dark in the room. I tend to fixate in sources of light and as you drift asleep the shadows become almost like a part of your dreams, if that makes any sense at all
"that's just perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the Universe has that.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
People with sleep paralysis tend to think that it is a ghost because the nightmare usually manifests as a sinister figure in your room. You are half-awake, half-asleep, so you are partially aware of your surroundings, unable to move, but still dreaming. If you look at most ghost or UFO abduction reports you can suppose that the person drifted off briefly before having a sleep paralysis event.
My body eventually did start responding and I woke up screaming.
The good news is that it's a pretty well-documented phenomena. This was over 12 years ago, so it's unless it's the longest of long cons, it's unlikely to be demonic possession!
Not gonna lie, it was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life, and I still keep thinking about it a lot. But also a really fascinating experience.
