There's a fairly large bit of mods (~100 or so) that have been added, the majority of which are free (and disable achievements).
Most expensive is 1000 point for a fancy ship module, there's a 700 point Tracker's alliance: The Vulture quest (this doesn't seem to be related to the quest chain and bounties themselves, which look to be free). There's a mining sim mod too that's also paid and looks to be large? idk.
I'm personally not likely to use any mods that would disable achievements, so yeah.

Just got to wait for the Starfield Script Extender and a mod that re-enables achievements with mods, aka what's become the usual loop for Bethesda games
oh, I play on console though. as far as I know, Creations are curated so would they add such a mod?
@tastydonuts
You would need Starfield script extender which only works on PC. So no. I would just unlock whatever achievements you want to do the most before you start modding, as even some cosmetic only mods like the companion plushies aren't reliablely tagged on the creations workshop, as it's largely user curated.
The only mod that I have installed on console at the moment is the unofficial patch, for example.
so... the Starfield Tracker's Alliance bounties are amusing.
The content itself starts off with a single mission chain that introduces the bounty concepts and has a narrative driven bounty. Beyond that, you get a regular bounty board of random missions. What's interesting to note about these missions is it seems there seems to be a currency that drops you can collect to buy items from a vendor. Not new territory for gaming, but interesting nonetheless. Three pieces nets you a "nice" piece of gear. IDK if it's a guaranteed legendary, but save scumming makes that a nonissue. Let's be honest.
The 700 creation point second mission that enthusiasts are raging and review bombing the game over because "bounties are paid content" (they are not) is just another mission. I didn't buy it, so IDK how long it is. Also amusing that only 15 of the mods you have to buy out of a hundred or so but people are raging that you have to pay for mods too. But I digress...
Some bounties require you to subdue the opponent instead of killing them, which results in the traditional bloodbath with the sole enemy survivor being that guy who you need to keep alive. Don't know if there are bounties where you have to board a vessel to subdue a person alive, hope there are.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
It's out right now. Which also means it broke SFSE and its supporting libraries so I can't play until they're updated. So maybe in a couple of days I'll be able to play it without a large portion of my mods being broken.

every time this happens and HD TEETH needs updates they might as well delete the game from my hard drive sadge
I guess I'll ride my Starfield buggy. Does it have a ship compartment that you can see it in or is it one of those infinitely shrinkable dealies that lives in inventory space?
edit: Yes, it has a module:
But can you look at it while in a ship? Is what remains to be seen.

Unfortunately nah, it just spawns next to your ship whenever you land or fast travel back to your ship (once you've bought it from any ship services NPC).
Some video of me messing around on the moon with it:
Even in normal gravity the handling is kind of janky, though to my surprise I discovered that it also floats on water.
Really should have been in the game at launch, but better late than never. Driving on planets with loads of trees is kind of annoying, you definitely get the feeling of the driving mechanics not really being built for the game, kind of like an official fan mod.
Kinda jank (not momentum driven but it's way faster than other movement) I like it. It passes the Mako test. I only drove around Jemison for a bit.
And civilians react in the exact way you'd expect when vehicle is now moving in their footpaths. While I didn't run anybody over, I did ram some animals joyriding (they were attacking me first!) and it doesn't seem to be built to do that. But sick Makos jumps are definitely on the menu.
I'd take a video but I'd have to log into youtube, etc :V
edit: oo you can drive by scan.. this is definitely a game changer for planetary exploration. it also comes with full spinal protection!
edit: it also feels like overall group movement speed has been increased too.

so... as the representative of the 3,461 unique downloads for that particular mod, not counting the creator... why HD Teeth?
the mod equivalent of the inventors of halitosis
hd teeth made me aware of the concept of sd teeth. now i live in a prison of low resolution dentistry from which there is no respite

I don't give a crap about Starfield at this point but yeah, you spend the entirety of a game with a camera looking pretty close at faces, something like low-res and/or low-poly teeth sticks out.

Decided to give Starfield one last chance.
This time I'm playing as a miserable bastard with a minigun that tanks everything and hates anyone that isn't his parents.

The horrifying mannequin NPCs of Starfield were one of the biggest knocks I had against the game. Especially when I was playing another notable RPG at the time that completely fucking nailed making even inhuman creatures look expressive and interesting.
You know, as much as I like to shit on Starfield's aesthetics, I still really like the gun designs.
boy howdy do I have the Youtube algorithm for you (a bunch of lengthy verbose video essays from people who hate Bethesda weapon designs to their very core, because. reasons I guess)
You know it occurs to me, there are mods for Starfield now IIRC on Xbox.
Are there any that improve the awful NPC models and animations?
Probably, you would have to have a gander at the clunky/slow mods UI for xbox though to find anything.
A bunch of mods like that need stuff that tends to only be for PC, like dll injectors etc.
The obligatory 'female companions boob resizer' type mods are definitely on xbox though. 🙄

Only the most important mods are on Xbox of course 🙄
But something that improves the facial animations and make people look like they aren't melting plasticine or dead eye staring (though I recall a patch may have fixed that?) would be good. If there are recommendations I would be interested, especially as I know WOIFE will want to play when the DLC is released.
Yes, there are a bunch. And not just...those kinds. Aside from character improvements, there are a lot of others that really help improve the overall experience.
Also, first solid info about Shattered Space is coming out. Looks good? Apparently they went with a FEAR style self-contained story.

Definitely going to have to download some new hairstyles mods. Fallout London kind of spoiled me with all the fun combos they had.
(alot of it was just meshing vanilla hairstyles I believe but still nice)

They don't hate them because of the aesthetics though. They hate them because if you know how guns function, or even how their scifi weapons are implied to function, they either cannot possibly shoot or no one would ever design a real weapon that way. And it is amusing all the miriad ways Bethesda guns are nonsense: barrels and/or magazines that don't line up with chambers, auto/semi-auto weapons without cycling mechanisms, round bullets fired out of square barrels, etc. But that is entirely separate from their aesthetics. Bethesda clearly designs their weapons based purely on aesthetics, not any plausible functionality and that's fine with me.
Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.

i hate them because when i look into my reflection in those shining metal gun surfaces i see todd howard's face beaming back... the tom cruise of videogame development... why are you so youthful and handsome todd...

Time to see whether theres actually a great snek or this is just scientology in space.
I mean, the faction is still lame either way but still.
You know, as much as I like to shit on Starfield's aesthetics, I still really like the gun designs.
They actually showed restraint when trying to futurize some of the gun designs. It was impressive given how even in Elder Scrolls games, their weapon artists seem to default to "add greebles and then make it twice as wide as needed."

There are many reasons people take issue with their weapon designs. In Skyrim, you had the default Ebony Sword have a huge chunk of the actual blade edge covered by a decorative element, thereby making it less believable as a sword.
In Fallout 4 specifically, it felt like they were trying to push their own newer designs over many of the gun types that dated back to Fallout 1 and 2 so it ended up going hand in hand with Fallout 4 feeling like the least Fallout of the mainline games. That gets combined with mechanics like pipe guns regularly showing up in the loot tables of locked safes supposedly containing pre-war stuff. It all contributed to a lot of the game feeling like less thought and effort was put into it in favor of Settlements.
Or to put it another way, the weapon design comes across like when TV shows or movies try to depict "hacking" or other computer expertise as looking at a command terminal and hitting keys really fast.

That mod that lets strip armor from corpses would be civilization… WHY DOES IT NEED A MOD TO DO?!

I was never as down on the game as others to begin with, but I'm legitimately enjoying picking up my Unity character again.
Vehicle patch is supposed to be out now/tomorrow. 😎🤓🚙
