I still think there’s a small chance that fishburne will show up and this is all marketing misdirection.

Could the fact that the movie is called Resurrections have anything to do with these characters returning? Leave a comment below to tell me what you think!

    Seems unlikely.

This post was sponsored by Tom Cruise.

In one of the preliminary teaser cuts from the website Not-Morpheus was shown being assembled by those nano-machines that made up the baby-faced AI at the end of Revolutions so I don't really think everything is on the up and up with that character, or anyone at this point (Trinity was also shown glitching Matrix-style in the new teaser). Maybe if anything Neo and Trinity are full blown Matrix constructs gaining self-awareness or something. I'm just typing shit randomly because it feels good to be talking about the Matrix again.

I really like how analog the original film was - like the robots stuck us in the timeline right at the edge where we still had big cell phones and you jack into the matrix through land line phones and 56k, those dicks.

They could have made the matrix look like any point in the next thousand years but they dumped us in virtual 1999.

It's telling that when the machines went "Well, they need to suffer in order to believe the simulation, so what terrible time period should we recreate?" and their answer was "late stage capitalism"

Oh I believe Chong is hard to work with now, but I also believe that could easily have been exacerbated by the damage done in his encounters with Warner Brothers

reminds me of what happened with Stephanie Beatriz's character in Bojack Horseman

It turned out people were too into the World of Darkness version of the Matrix.

the character is an actor and she has a traumatic experience working with Bojack. Then afterward she keeps working but makes a few reasonable requests of her coworkers so as not to trigger her PTSD; people ignore her requests and it makes it impossible for her to work. Then afterward she gets a reputation for being "difficult to work with" and loses work as a result.

In a more general sense, an actor having a Hollywood reputation of being "difficult to work with" turns out to most of the time be code for "was resistant to workplace harassment" or "turned down Harvey Weinstein" or some other reason they were blacklisted. Usually applied to female actors or other people who lack privilege, since more privileged actors/directors who actually are famously difficult to work with (Kubrick, Daniel Day Lewis, Jared Leto) get to be described as "method" or "auteurs" and don't get blacklisted at all.

If I was an AI and needed to pick a time period for my people who might revolt I'd pick a time period where people didn't know how to program/hack.

Enjoy serfdom in the Middle Ages, battery/food supply.

The more I think about this trailer the more I think it's just going to be a quantum computing/superposition/multi-universe merging story. 2021 is already hot for them so why not keep it going?

    Nothing. Matters.

Imma be honest I never really cared that much for the Matrix's plot.

I didn't think it was bad persay just very straightforward and a vehicle for what really matters.

Watching people in head to toe leather do super parkour while wearing sunglasses at night.

I hope like ten minutes into the movie, the machines are like "Yeah, of course we aren't using you as a fuel supply. Come on, we KNOW you humans discovered the laws of thermodynamics. It's the living neuronet pricessor thing. We didn't think you were smart enough then, but now we'll give you a try for the non-bullshit version."

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

Wow that just reminded me the Matrix was pre-YouTube wasn't it...

Gonna be interesting seeing it in this day and age...especially if it catches on with the younger crowd.

why are the descriptions so good
A pair of 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Villes in flagrante delicto are split, widened and mounted one to the other, pitched at a rakish angle by huge double rear wheels and powered by twin V8’s slaved to a handmade gearbox capable of harnessing and harmonizing the ultimate power of the ultimate leader. The flagship of the Citadel’s Armada, The Gigahorse is memory of past glory and pledge of future victory. Armed with whaler’s harpoon and the devil’s own flamethrower, The Gigahorse is likely the first thing you hear and the last thing you see on the Fury Road.
Mutant lovechild of semi-trailer and hot rod, twin V8’s end-to-end, 6 wheel-drive, eighteen-wheeled leviathan charged with the barter of fluids and firearms that binds the three city-states of the Wasteland in tenuous alliance. She (and ‘she’ she most definitely is) bestrides the Fury Road, a beast of war as much a beast of burden, piloted by the most trusted warrior and heralded driver of the Citadel, Furiosa. A dozen elite War Boys hunker down on the truck and trailers of this massive machine and a convoy of cars and motorbikes track with her across the desert, a finger to the apocalypse and the downfall of man. Bring it on…
Every army has a little drummer boy, to keep the beat and stir the heart, and the War Boys of the Wasteland are no exception. Here, mounted drummers pound a taiko beat on huge resonators built of aircon duct, while Coma The Doof Warrior, blind and disfigured, slung in a web of bungy and spread-eagled before a stack of speakers, hurtles across the desert landscape on a repurposed 8 x 8 M.A.N. missile-carrier. The wail of the banshee, the distorted lick and demented, driving bass, the call to arms and the baying for blood, all music to the ears and grist to the mill, a symphony, a song, a single scream, the soundtrack to the end of civilization.
    But we go out dancing…
