Dunno. They're fucking cowards
I basically land on the only acceptable Labor government is one in minority to Greens and independents.
Even then they’ll still team up with the Liberal Party for shit legislation like turning down two internationally rated anticorruption measures to pass one together that ensures no accountability.
There's so much wrong, evil shit happening in NZ. Not even touching the beneficiary stuff, but here's the latest bollocks.
Fuck anyone who voted national, let alone act or NZ first. You're a monster.

Maori King Tuheitia has passed away.
Anybody that wants a brief history of the Kiingitanga movement, the Wiki article is pretty good. Also has some details on the New Zealand Wars and more background on a lot of the upcoming/ongoing grievances with the Current Govt regarding sovereignty etc.

I remember him. King Charles III of the UK was supposed to meet with him but had to cancel his trip to New Zealand a few weeks ago. Charles has already offered his condolences.
Given his own health issues, I imagine that condolences was particularly poignant for him.
a fairly stunning statement from the King.
especially the use of "Aotearoa New Zealand" and the (easier) spelling of whaanau (usually spelled with an ā instead o the double aa)
wow.
that is. quite the statement.

Again, facing his own mortality is likely weighing on his own mind.
there's a Huge Issue undercutting things down here right now regarding Te Tiriti and whether the Maori who signed it ceded sovereignty to the Crown or not.
so the actual Crown naming the land Aotearoa New Zealand is... a small thing overall, true. but still... a Thing

edit- although interesting that its Māori, not Maaori or Maori.
A note with some very specific wording and spelling.
Providing they allow people to identify properly as bisexual, I am very confident the percentage of queer will be higher than 10%
Labor's been a massive disappointment but this has me genuinely unsure what the hell I'm going to do next election.

Sadly I don't think it is (I know) because at least that would be taking a stance on it.
I think it's just more of what this government has suffered the last two and a half years; an attitude of absolute feckless cowardice of any issue, no matter how small it may be that they see as threatening chances of reelection. They have said multiple times they were not willing to proceed with legislation unless the LNP was willing to sign off on it, essentially giving veto power to the party that copped an absolute shellacking last election.
It reinforces my feelings dating back to the Gillard government, that Federal Labor cannot be trusted to pass good policy when it holds a majority, it needs to be held to task by a progressive crossbench in at least the senate and probably among MPs as well. They are more worried about encroachment from the Greens and the Teals than simply passing policy that would attract those voters to them.
The Labor Party despite criticising the Greens for voting with the Coalition to pause the housing bill just did some bipartisan work with the same people to pass John Howard's Aged Care policy from the 90s.

There is a significant number of Australians with Lebanese heritage, I wonder if they'll be as easy to ignore as the government has been attempting to turn a blind eye Palestinians in Australia.
A report dropped recently that ASIO investigated all Palestinians in Australia over the last year.

Anyway, as of six o'clock, Thorpe did not attend the chamber, and was barred from sitting (and voting) until the end of tomorrow.
The Australian Greens voted against the motion, as they did not believe the action was proportionate and because (I think) it prevents Senator Thorpe from voting on some anti-genocide legislation.

She seems to be aligning with David Pocock, who for the most part has been excellent as a crossbench senator.
This might be hopelessly optimistic, but given the success Climate had in the last elections I don't see any reason why they wouldn't double-down and push harder, because it clearly worked once. And its not like people are less concerned about climate change and less pissed off at the incumbent parties than last time.
