Saban’s real issue is Bama’s boosters have a lot less money than the Texas and most B1G schools
No, his real issue is that in a system where he doesn't hold all the cards - where he can't recruit his way into success, and actually has to plan and develop talent - well we all know how he did in the NFL.
look dude, I know you hate Saban, but this is clearly like...just not true. Saban has had 41 players go in the first round in the NFL Draft since being at Alabama. All told, he has 46. The only person close to that is Joe Paterno, with 33. And that can't be attributed to only talent, because plenty of schools get just as much talent and have zero 1st round draft picks, looking at you Texas (since 2015!). Literally zero nfl draft picks at all for Texas this year. By the way, Texas had the number 3 recruiting class in 2018 and 2019.
He is quite obviously very good at both developing talent and gathering staff around him that also develop talent.
I think it might also be wishful thinking to think that Nick Saban can't figure out how to recruit in this new environment

If Saban complains about a thing, he's about to do the thing.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Exactly, he wants Bama’s boosters to put up more money than everyone else so he still always gets the guys signing at A&M and JSU so he can keep fielding a team 50% more talented than everybody else
A&M’s recruiting class wasn’t just #1 to Bama’s #2- A&M got like a quarter of the 5* recruits in this class, which basically made this Bama’s (and everyone else’s) weakest recruiting class since that was a thing people measure
I mean, none of that is even close to true, except for a&m getting close to a quarter of the five stars this year. But Alabama’s recruiting “score” at 247 was 322.14, with a higher average per player because they recruited 4 less players than a&m.
Their number in 2018? 289, rated fifth overall at 247.
Their number in 2021 though? 327, which is just five points off of A&M’s total for this year. They had 7 five stars last year to A&M’s 8 this year. Which, again, was almost a quarter of the five stars that year.
And other schools in that range also fared well this year. Georgia did markedly better this year, like by a lot. Texas jumped up like forty points. Ohio state dipped, but last year they bagged 7 five stars as well so it would be hard to repeat that.
Saban was speaking to boosters to get them in gear, but it wasn’t because it was an apocalypse this year. It’s because he can see that they will fall behind if they don’t get nil stuff organized.

Honestly lol if you think Saban isn't still going to get a high share of top-end recruits in whatever system comes next. Alabama's recruiting pitch is different than everyone else's at this point, because they can just point to all the rings and NFL talent they've produced. Saban and Alabama will be more than fine.

Yeah, I contend that Urban broke a lot of bylaws to get his class that powered the first CFP win, and then merely pointed to the like 11 first round picks in 2 years that resulted to convince everyone following them to come to OSU

Urban's only talent was in recruiting.

This is the last year for ACC Coastal Roulette. They're moving to a 3-5-5 (3 rivals you play every year, a guaranteed home and home against the other 10 teams every 4 years) model and abolishing divisions starting in 2023.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
But seriously, all I and everyone knows at the moment is that Wilner is THE guy for PAC-12 news, and isn’t known for making things up, so there’s probably some validity here. We do know both LA schools have been frustrated by the conference for awhile, and it’s a sign that they’re more than willing to work together instead of USC going solo like some expected.
Ok, honestly, At what point do we have to sit the B1G down and tell them that “Ten” has been a farcical part of their identity for years, and we’ve all played along, and at some point they need to stop pushing it?

East solution: kick out Maryland, Rutgers, Nebraska, Penn State, invite the Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona schools, split the divisions and play the conference title game at the Rose Bowl.

No see now it's gonna mean each half of the conference has 10 teams

I’m honestly just shocked UCLA is the proactive one for once.

Personally I think it would be hilarious if NIL money started drying up as boosters begin to realize they're massively overpaying for mediocre results.

Let's not sell Urban Meyer short. He also had an amazing talent in being too skeezy for Jacksonville.
Nah, early Urban was a genuine offensive innovator. But he's such an amoral dipshit he can't maintain anything.

Nah, BGSU/Utah Urban.
Wait, that’s Clemson’s division
that?

That’s one way for Michigan to make it back to the Rose Bowl
Auerbach has it now too.
Same with Dellenger, so it’s real-real.

At least we’re still better than USC
*lmao no
On the flip side, UCLA has a much easier time of it in softball and baseball now.
