People are Playing Planet Puzzle League (Tetris Attack DS)

Why isn't there a thread on this?

The best puzzle game of ever is coming to the DS. The touch screen interface makes the best puzzle game ever even better. Oh yeah, and it has online multiplayer.

Why has this flown under the radar?

No Idea why this has flown under the radar, but it is one my most anticipated games right now for the DS...mainly for the Wifi play.

Only a few more days, ahh...it's about time.

Jeez, Tuesday? No idea it was that close.

From what I've seen, this is pretty bare-bones when it comes to Tetris Attack/Puzzle League/ Panel De Pon releases, but online multiplayer is enough to make me consider.

    I'm excited.
Tetris Attack is the yardstick by which all other video games are measured.
It is sex in video game form, only it smells better, lasts longer, and isn't as sweaty.
It's better than sex. Better than sliced bread.
It would be better than oxygen except that oxygen allows me to live. Life allows me to play Tetris Attack. Only by a technicality does oxygen beat Tetris Attack.

I didn't know this was out so soon. I just bought Meteos tonight and I can't justify another game purchase for a while.

Unless this one is on sale. Because then I'll have to buy it before the price goes up.

Tetris Attack was awesome but it always bugged me that you couldn't swap vertically as well as horizontally. I'd see all these great 5-combo possibilities if only i could swap vertically...

That's kind of like saying that Starcraft would be better if all the units cost the same.

First off, it's Tetris Attack. With a stylus. And wi-fi. That really should be all you need to know.

But it's pretty, too. The last version of this game (Puzzle League / Dr. Mario on GBA) was a good game, but lacking in presentation.

    This does not lack. Behold.

    I fucking love Tetris attack.

There was a time when me and my mate Jon would go clubbing in Manchester, walk back at 3am (pissed off our faces), the walk would take about 2 hours, he'd crash at mine, then we wake up at 9am to have cooked breakfast with my family, then spend the rest of the day playing Tetris Attack on the snes.

Someone please explain the online mode to me.... From the information I've read it looks like you get can get a rating and play against other people with similar ratings, but these ratings are only available in birthday mode. Is this true? Because if it is true, then it is one of the most bizarre game design decisions I've ever seen.

it's humbling to have just gotten this game yesterday for review, and i'm out of thebox getting my ass handed to me by people who I assume are in Japan. Still, a fun puzzler. In single player mode it has a kind of Devil Dice feel were the game can seem to go on forever. In WiFi...christ I have had games wrap up (not in my favor mind you) in seconds.

It's strange, I love Tetris Attack but ever since Pokemon Puzzle League I find it really hard to play. Something about the silly presentation and warped pokemon voices you just can't replace.

This is how it goes. Unless the title is huge, no matter what the platform, it probably won't be in stores on a Tuesday. Except of course if you are on the West Coast, then the odds are slightly more in favor of Tuesday. The last exception is of course the Nintendo store in NYC.

See, I know this, and that's why I asked whether or not it shipped today, because I know damn well most stuff ships Tuesday and arrives Wednesday, except that Nintendo usually ships on Mondays, hence the question.

    But thanks for not answering.

Unless it's a AAA title like Pokemon (which was in stores on its release date), you generally have to wait a day or two, depending on your location.

Yes, but that still doesn't answer the question.

Did it ship yesterday? Or is it shipping today? We all understand the difference between ship dates and "release" dates, between big titles and little ones, but the question is whether or not it shipped yesterday, which would put it in EB/GS *TODAY*, or whether it's shipping today. I seriously doubt that no one knows the answer to this.

So, this game is controlled by dragging blocks horizontally with the stylus, right? Because while that's technically not any different from swapping blocks in Tetris Attack, I have to imagine it would make the game feel completely different, and possibly not as good (because, let's face it, it'd be hard to make a game better than Tetris Attack).

    Someone assuage my concerns please.

    Paul_IQ164 on
But obviously to make that into a viable anecdote you have to tart it up a bit.

And why do you think that is? On every occasion I can recall, games shipped on Monday end up in stores everywhere on Tuesday. At least as far as the EB/GS stores, I dunno about the others.

I'm done buying new games from EBstop. I called in to Game Crazy to see if they had PPL, yes they did, for 30 bucks. On the way there, I returned the copy of Fatal Frame 2 to Gamestop and looked at their PPL...35 bucks. Got the game from GameCrazy for 30 :P

Haven't played it yet, but if it pleases me as Meteos did, I will be on a lot.
