It remains pretty much impossible to play any kind of value deck when Brann, Owlonius, and Sif exist.
Yo I'mma be real I haven't seen Sif Mage in eons. It's all Spell Mage now.
As far as I'm aware that deck is as dead as Wheel Lock. A specter of the past.
Both of those decks are still probably good, is the thing!! Or, playable, at the least. But no one plays em anymore. Same with Sludgelock, that's vanished off the face of the earth. I only see Fatigue Locks and-- what're the kids calling it these days, "Pain Lock"?? Yeah.
ALSO THE KIDS THESE DAYS ARE CALLING FATIGUE LOCK "INSANITY LOCK" WHICH LIKE?? WHY?? THE CORE MECHANIC IS FATIGUE DAMAGE??? god you kids these days and your newfangled names back in my day we just called everything aggro or control or midrange smdh grumble mumble mutter mutter
edit: who tf calls Excavate decks "Mining [Class Name]" like bruh we have the full mechanic name right there. it's Excavate. "Mining" get the fuck outta here lmao
Rogue's Excavate gimmick was the bee's knees when the previous expansion released but now I can count the number of Rogues I've seen recently on one hand.

It's called Insanity Warlock because the primary card that makes the deck good is called Encroaching Insanity.
Zilliax Deluxe living up to the legacy of its predecessor by being in every deck.

Threw together a haphazard Hero Power Druid deck for a quest. Came across a control Priest and I ended the game hitting him for 36 to the dome when I had 100 armor and 20 health. Hilarious
Rogue's Excavate gimmick was the bee's knees when the previous expansion released but now I can count the number of Rogues I've seen recently on one hand.
Just get your MMR up enough and you'll run into them regularly.
If I'm not facing a Reno deck, it's usually because it's a damn Excavate bullshit RNG fiesta Rogue. I think 1/3 of my opponents in the last two days have been Rogues.
I've started teching a couple of the tradeable snakes whose name I forget, that break weapons. Mostly to get rid of that aggravating infinite durability lifesteal Rogue weapon, but also does a decent number on Paladins and Warriors.

Oh man. I run into so many rogues, it's completely absurd. And of course whenever they play that deck, they have the perfect answer to everything I do, whereas when I play that deck, I'll generate utter garbage.
new mechanics are Tourist Legendaries
each class has a Tourist which, when put into your deck, allows you to put the Perils in Paradise cards of another class into your deck (but ONLY the cards from this expansion, not core, not anything else)
paladins can add Rogue, rogue can add warlock, then DK, shaman, DH, priest, hunter, warrior, druid, mage, and back to paladin again
drinks are spells which behave like that hunter spell that summoned monkeys, get multiple uses
locations in the set have the regular location timer, but also have a qualifier where they can re-open earlier if you meet a goal (the example shown is a druid location that re-opens immediately if you gain armour)
note that both these cards are not represented across all classes (in part because of those tourist cards meaning everyone will still have access to them)
login card is Marin the Manager, 7 mana 6/6 pirate, battlecry choose one of the 4 Treasures (remember those guys? the golden kobold, wand, goblet, and crown). you get it, and the rest get shuffled into your deck
genn and baku are in the core set until the expansion releases on the 23rd

Previously, matchmaking on the ranked ladder was based on your internal rating (commonly called “MMR”) while you had bonus stars and based on ladder rank after you ran out of bonus stars. Now, matchmaking will continue to be based on your internal rating even after you run out of bonus stars. This change should reduce matchmaking complexity and result in more consistent and fairer matches throughout the ladder.
Passive XP Grant Adjustment
In our continued efforts to combat bots and exploitive play patterns, extended periods of inactivity will now reward less XP. This change will not impact players taking normal game actions on their turns, such as playing cards, making attacks, or even just hitting the end turn button, so most players won’t see change in their XP earned—just fewer bots wasting their time.

Just had a bg match where the top3 were all going for beasts (Nzoth, Tess, Greyboy). Never been happier to place third in a game, every battle took a year.
I just played a game against a Priest running Baku. It was terrible for me - he started off with the Priest weapon for a free hero power and the +4 healing. I didn't see the trap coming until he threw down a Heartthrob and a Pip and started overhealing like crazy.
Genn has some slight potential in that ETC lets you Trojan horse some odd cards into your deck, but the payoffs for the deck limitation just aren't the same as they were 5-6 years ago.

Really interested to see if Genn and Baku land at all.
These are cards that completely warped the game to the point where there was no possible fix other than banning them, a feat that has never been repeated since.
And now they're, in all likelihood, not that great? But you never know, I feel like there could be a deck or two that is able to claw its way into relevance.
Historically Odd/Even has sort of fallen into two avenues
-Cheaper Dude summons for on-board decks (Even Shaman, Even Paladin)
-Buffs to the HP's Number (warrior/hunter)
-Evenlock, which was just handlock but like, with three cards cut
Now the board-based decks don't struggle to commit to board early, the number decks have spells that are significantly more efficient than their number, and handlock isn't real.

I think I've played one Baku warrior.
Genn and Baku aren't making much of a splash because hitting the hero power button these days isn't usually very good. Which I think is actually a healthy thing for the game. The Grand Tournament (the one focused around hero powers) was a terrible expansion, and everything hero power-centric in hearthstone has been pretty boring and results in the same play patterns over and over again.
Hearthstone still has some of those problems but I definitely don't want to go back to the hero power-focused era of the game.
Made it to Dad Legend a bit earlier this month with Excavate Warlock again! I really do like that deck a lot, haha. Helps that there have been so many Warriors and other slow-ass decks for me to munch on. Om nom nom
Also been thinking about this past expansion (and the miniset) and how they were designed to push specific deck archetypes while quite a few existing ones didn't get that much! And in terms of not receiving much support, mostly thinking of, you guessed it, Excavate Warlock and Plague DK (wow the only two decks I've been playing??? who would've guessed!!!!!)
Rainbow DK got pushed HARDDDD and honestly the support was so powerful (Horseman alone, my goodness) I divorced the Excavate package from my Plague DK list entirely, opting to go UUB instead of UUF. Didn't wanna go full Rainbow. Blood opens up a lot of options. Shifted it more towards being on the control/sustain side of things. But then at the same time, I lose Reska, I lose Excavates, I lose out on full Rainbow support like Quartzite Crusher (but hey Runes of Darkness covers that). I gain a lot at the same time though. It's been a fun list to run but it's missing *something*. Which I'm hoping this next set can help provide. That said it's been doing really well to punish hyperdraw decks like Druid, Mage, Warrior etc. Draw through your whole deck?? okie eat plags dum-dums.
I think at best Excavate Warlock can use Domino Effect to really good effect (har har). I've been running 2x of that and it's been doing wonders (especially vs Stealthed shit ughhh). I like that it provides an option that doesn't rely on specific board setup (Defile) or handsize (Tableflip). But the rest of the new stuff?? Nnnnnot really... Like there's a reason why the slower Warlock decks dropped off in favor of the faster ones (okay aside from nerfing Wheel). The fast ones got a ton of support. Painlock was revitalized with the miniset (despite the nerfs!), and the other fast decks can even utilize Mass Production.
And both decks I'm running are my own custom lists, and they've been performing... somewhat adequately for being like... completely non-meta decks with very non-standard lists. But I wouldn't say "good". I've been piloting them well enough cause I custom built them and I know exactly how to navigate the matchups. So, good enough to get to Dad Legend, but good enough to get to Legend Legend?? Who knows I mean I pushed up to Diamond 3 last month with Excavate Warlock and I bet good money I could've gone to Legend if I wanted, but. Time is money, friend.
I hope this next set gives some support to the decks left behind at least.
Edit: o shit wait, Tourists might actually help a hell of a lot

Earlier today a warrior Dirty Rat'd my Spirit of the Badlands, and a few turns later I Dirty Rat'd his Brann. Then I played Marin and drew five copies of Yogg. Warrior conceded the next turn.

Wasn't it order of play?
But I think for BGs they changed it to left to right.
It's silly, because in C'thun vs C'thun games whoever plays C'thun loses.

Bought 10 packs and got really lucky with them (like, REALLY LUCKY)
1 golden shit legendary, 2 golden epics i already had and another regular crap legendary. With all dat dust I was able to pimp the deck out the max.
I crafted two legendaries (Agrammar and Yogg unleashed) and 2 epics ( Starstrung bow and ice trap) and the powerlevel difference is very noticeable.
