Hey guys,
I'm getting a PSP sometime this week, and I'm just curious if you have any opinions on what games I should get?
So far, on my list of possible purchases, I have;
Metal Gear Solid PO
Lumines
Ratchet and Clank (I've never ever played a Ratchet game before. Are they any good?)
Metal Slug Anthology
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Also, what's a decent RPG for the PSP?

Good RPG's? Tales of Eternia (import) and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. Failing that, you can wait until later in the year when Jeanne d'Arc, Brave Story and Final Fantasy Tactics all come out.
If you like fighting games Tekken DR is good, as well as Guilty Gear judgement.
Also, Sega Fucking Genesis Collection. 29 of the best the Genesis had to offer like sonic 1 & 2, Phantasy Sat II, III, IV, Ecco the Dolphin I and II, etc (though its missing sonic 3 and knuckles for some reason)
Just ignore the troll. But it is kinda funny, the "DS fans trolling PSP threads" phase has been over for a year or so now. I guess he's a little slower than the others.
And yeah, I completely forgot about Tekken: DR and Sega Mega Drive Collection (Mega Drive >>> Genesis). They're fucking awesome.
I have a DS Lite anyway, so I just ignored the troll.

Yeah, I saw Killzone for super cheap today, so I'll probably pick it up this week as well.
And for RPGs, you can't go wrong with Lenneth. Ys VI is good too, but I'm not sure how the port compares to the PS2 version.
Also, does anyone know if there's any substantive difference between the PS2 and PSP versions of Snoopy vs. the Red Baron?
I second Maverick Hunter X. Its megaman X in 3d, but the same 2d gameplay. Its great fun. Also, it has voice acting and Launch Octopus is the token bishonen villain, for some inane reason. O_o

And as for RPGs on the PSP, I think they all suck so far. Either killed by obscene load times, lame combat/gameplay, and/or uninspired stories. I own a whole mess of them and was dissapointed by all of them for basically those reasons.

Sid Mier's Pirates (PSP) turned out to be a dang good port IMO of the pc game. Also Daxter (of Jak and Daxter) on the PSP is a fine platformer.
I can't fucking find it. Is it even out in the US?
It's been mentioned in every thread related to buying PSP games ever, but no, the game came out in Eurofunland and not here. It goes on the short list.
Because posting that kind of crap leads to arguments and then the thread is derailed. That's why.

Also, be warned and stay very far away from EA Replay. It's crap, and seeing once-classic games treated so badly made me weep. That said, I blame that squarely on trying to shoehorn those PC games onto the SNES in the first place. Ugh.

Can someone suggest some good/great PSP Multiplayer games that take advantage of the unit's WiFi connection? I just want something well made & fun that I can boot up, and use to play random people with over the 'net.

Also, any suggestions for good travel cases? Small form factor is a must and I'd like a space to store an extra battery and possibly an extra memoy card...

A lot of people like Socom but I was never able to get into the multiplayer - connecting to games never seemed to work properly. I've never had any problems with Siphon Filter and it plays and controls really well, feels like a really natural Splinter Cell.

The last Syphon Filter I played was for the PSX and I enjoyed it. Enjoyed it more than Metal Gear actually...
If you liked SF more than MGS, you'll LOVE this game. I hate SF and I thought this game wasn't half bad.
Its frustrating in the beginning, but once you get passed like the first 2 hours its pretty fun. I've gotten about 100+ hours out of it.
Don't get Valhalla knights though. god what a waste of money.
