Oh wonderful. Challenges that require specific classes.
Boy I sure do love changing everyones class, arts, skills, gems, and accessories over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
The challenges are mostly falling over easily on normal to my team comp I used for the superbosses. Except the last one - I havent set up to do the hard mode of superbosses and it wants to have two at a time out on me. So my usual ppan of using a massive overkill chain attack isn't working.
Ino's kit is interesting. I don't see any justification for the menu option being labeled Inoswap yet. The bonuses for dying seem like they might be silly if built around.
While its great to have another Tank Class, it's less great to have to traipse all over the map looking for her character specific ether spots that don't show up on your map until after you've found them, and only sometimes do you get a notice of the general area another one might be in after harvesting one.

Hmm. I dunno, I see two-three per region immediately and the "show another" always seems to hit one already visible, so I'm not sure it's not revealing them all already to me. Could be wrong.

hey, no complaining, back in my day, you had to go play Tiger Tiger in the snow uphill both ways.
Arguably N & M since it's a single-wave fight that can be over fast with a good setup.

I've been so damn busy but I finally picked this game back up this weekend. Managed to beat Chapter 6, now working my way through 7 :P I am still undecided how much I wanna focus on side quests vs just getting the damn main story done. I've been so bogged down in side quests (and I still have a ton to do) but I wanna see what happens
Chapter 7 intro spoilers
Hey, it's that thing I thought was gonna be the story since the intro cutscene! I was pretty close. Obviously I didn't guess any of the Origin stuff but "two Xenoblade universes colliding causing problems" was a pretty good guess IMO I'm slightly confused about the ending of XC2 now but we'll see how this plays out.
Now Zed just needs to turn out to be some version of Zanza and the predictions will be complete
Loved Nia. She was trying so hard to be all regal and sagely because they were all looking up to her, even though she's not really that kind of person. The little personal celebration to herself for nailing it when they all leave was priceless.
Also, fucking Joran man. That scene was amazing. Only slightly ruined by the immersion breaking "memory cutscenes" where Noah wasn't wearing the same outfit in the cutscene as he was when those lines originally happened like 10 mins ago (seems he's always in his default red jacket in that cutscene). XC1 got this so perfect, it's a shame...
Also note to self, always check if you have a damn topple in your party. Jesus that fight was teeeeeddddiiiiooouuussssssly long without being able to topple (easy because I'm like 17 levels overleveled but long)
Also played the DLC new Hero stuff. Professor Oosoo eh? I love that this character is literally just Poppiswap again tho I wasn't sure what was going on in the preview during the Direct and her design looked a little weird (she's very lanky), but seeing it in-game everything is great.

Interesting thing about Ino's creator: Torah's grandfather's name was Soosoo.
So I wonder if the professor Oosoo that created Ino is Torah's son. Would make sense that he would continue the legacy of creating artificial blades since Nopon were not able to bond with a blade naturally like other races could.

That was my assumption
Yeah, that would be a safe bet. Partly because who else would even know where to start?

Can't remember for sure, was it confirmed that Nopon in general couldn't bond with Blades, or just that Tora, his father, and his grandfather all tried and got nosebleeds for their trouble?

No, there were definitely Nopon drivers. I think it's implied Boreas had a Nopon driver since he looks a lot like a Nopon (and blades often inherit traits from their drivers). And I wanna say Kasandra's backstory was that her Nopon driver was eaten by a monster? (I might be wrong on that) I definitely remember one NPC mentioning a famous Nopon driver (which might have been Kasandra's, I can't remember)
It was Tora's family in particular that was just unable to

Ah, that could be. Definitely could be mis-remembering that point. I thought I remembered Torah explaining that Nopon cannot bond with a blade, but he definitely could have just been talking about his family in particular.

Yeah, I think there might have been something about it being rare or something? Like Nopon just tend not to be interested in that thing. But this is a universe where a giant spider can resonate with a Blade, so... :P

Man, screw whoever designed
Cammuravi and Ethel's
ascension quests. I eventually got sick of not knowing how to start this and looked it up. You literally have to randomly walk to an area not hinted at or marked on the map with a ? to trigger a cutscene. How the hell are people supposed to guess that? Every other one, you have that character in your party, a ? shows up to show where to start their ascension quest. Not here. Very annoying
I've mostly completed all the ascension quests now tho. I think I have like one or two Hero ones left, and Noah wherever that starts (I assume I just need to keep going with the story?). Man, some of those were really great.
Ghondor with the giant Tirkin was so sad. Dude just wanted to protect his kids. Also Sena's with Shania, poor girl.
She had a shit mom which was basically the cause of all that crap.
Taion's confused me though. How the hell is Nimue alive again? This is a colony split off from the flame clock system and hidden. Soooo, how is it making clones? Mobeius doesn't even know it exists here. This feels like a weird plot hole unless I'm missing something. The whole existence of this colony is kind of baffling and doesn't make sense (I am vaguely remembering something about some pods being located here, but they know how to clone and everything? It's weird)
Loved the food competition with Mi'yabi. That was so good. Ghondor amazing as always in that. Pissed off that her mom's food is so good while shoveling it down her throat.
haha... Also Manana's (which was basically unrelated to Riku but whatever, Manana is awesome) with the rando great chef Nopon living in a little hobbit house on a random island. haha...
I assume the game is winding down tho. All the NPCs are talking like "This is it! This is the final battle!" kind of talk.
I'm collecting the special metal and then going to Origin next. I assume that's the end of the game? But who knows. Xenoblade loves its curveballs

I pieced it together when the Heroes screen indicated they were linked.
Cammuravi and the others were aged up from their recent deaths. Investigating Colony Omega felt like something to do.
It could have been better implemented, but I consider that the other side of the ? outside of City HQ that I could never get to trigger.
As much as an improvement sidequests in XC3 are, the thing where quest markers only pop up if you have the right hero in your party is really damn annoying.
Collecting rumor fragments is also a neat idea in practice, but it means you have to comb through every colony looking for them. Sometimes with the right hero in party. Sometimes at only the right time of day!
I discovered a level 40 Triton quest...in the last chapter!
It could have been better implemented, but I consider that the other side of the ? outside of City HQ that I could never get to trigger.
If that's the one I'm thinking of, that's not actually outside the HQ, but on another level (either above or down the elevator).
I'm not sure which one this is. I don't have a ? in or around the City so I might have done whatever it was already. For the ascension quest
you have to go to Colony Omega which isn't marked. I know the game mentioned them aging up but that was weeks ago and I kinda forgot about it :P Like, literally if they had put a ? in Colony Omega with Cammuravi in the party that would have been enough for me to figure it out. I have a friend who is also playing and they told me they've done every ascension quest except for this one because they couldn't find it either. I was so sure I was missing a pre-req or something because I was running all over the City with Cammuravi looking for something to happen. I figured I'd have to go to Ethel, but no. Maybe the cloning tanks? No. Maybe that dude that semi-adopted her? No.
I think I may have even gone to Colony Omega but didn't see a ? and so didn't think to actually go inside (and of course I'd already gone inside earlier when I first got there so it's like, there wasn't a reason to now)
But I agree, not a huge fan of the stuff that only shows up with certain party members. I feel like XC1 did this on occasion too? But I can't remember for sure. I know that game had all kinds of weird ass quest requirements like affinity between specific characters even (specifically remember one that you needed affinity between like three groups of people to prove "X gender can be friends with each other!" or whatever). The Hero ascension hints page is also hidden extremely well and never mentioned, to the point I didn't know it existed until someone here brought it up (side note, drives me crazy I can't scroll through this menu with the shoulder buttons... I wanna just quick flip through all the heroes to see which ones I need to do still and I have to back out and click each individually). Why on earth does this game have TWO different Hero menus? (also minor rant - but not being able to Inoswap without her in your party is annoying.. they added a hotkey for Soulhacker but not this?)
I'm assuming there's some kind of post game, right? Like these games usually auto-save you just outside the last boss and then you can go do whatever (and I know this game also has the super beasts or whatever they call them that are like level 100-120). I'm tempted to just put off a lot of stuff, beat it, then look up a guide and see if I'm missing anything. Though I'd like to at least do all yellow quests first (and make some effort to do most green quests).
Started watching this.. Holy crap I totally forgot there is actually a flame clock mechanic for like the two minutes that is actually relevant. What an absolute gaslight of a system.
Also, hearing Noah voice the un-voiced Noah lines is the best thing

Sloooowly working through stuff. I am now done with all ascension quests except
Segiri
, which I think I'm just missing a pre-req on (I have a couple quests from that area I just picked up so I'm guessing it's one of those.. that was the issue with another one I was missing). I might continue with the main story once I finish that one, I'm not sure.
I just got the upgraded ship and it's sorta kinda feeling point-of-no-return-ish so I'm hesitant to proceed further until I've at least cleaned up all the yellow quests :P Not that I can't do this shit afterwards but I just sorta want to have those done first. Other quests I may save for after finally beating it, I dunno.

Yeah. I'm pretty much at the exact same place, except I've gotten all ascension quests done except the DLC character. Now I'm just trying to finish off sidequests, and fight named monsters, though I should probably advance the story some more, as I've mostly ran out of things to do at the moment, so hopefully some more quests will appear after.

Ok, all yellow quests finished. Woo! Now to decide if I wanna proceed with the story or do other stuff first. It's been so long that I might just go for it.
That said, this origin shard seven smithpon whatever quest is super intriguing to me and they even hinted that it would somehow help with Origin, not that my overleveled ass needs help.
But it feels more story relevant than the other non-yellow quests... hmm....
Also was watching Harry McEntire play more last night and was reminded that the seven smithpon or whatever forged Lucky Seven apparently. So that's interesting. It was also so fun to watch his elation at finally beating this unique monster that kept kicking his ass.. haha
Edit: Also, regarding a pre-req to the last yellow quest I needed:
Was that "Siblings" painting significant? I didn't recognize anyone in it but I wondered if it was otherwise from one of the first two games - maybe hanging somewhere in the background or something? It might have been nothing but I did wonder. (it was a nice painting regardless)

The painting
I've seen tons of speculation about that dang thing! That it might be a tease of some upcoming new Monolithsoft IP, or it's just random art to symbolize the relationship of the people at Colony 0...
Personally, I think the boy and girl in the middle strongly resemble Consuls X and Y, so maybe it's meant to be the original Moebius?
Oh brilliant

Ah, so at least if people are speculating that it isn't something I'm just forgetting from the other games. I kinda doubt it's a teaser for Monolith's next game but all the other ideas make sense to me.

However...
Final dungeon spoilers
X, Y and Z are all stated to be "born" mobius rather than being turned into them. I think X and Y are suppose to be extensions of Z himself. They all share similar features, like the glowing cracks in their skin (which I think indicates that their human exteriors are actually just "shells") and the mobius symbol in both eyes (which I think means that they don't belong to either of the two worlds)

The challenge with the common X/Y theory is that X is associated with Keves and Y is with Agnus. So when and where is this picture that has them both together?
The consul said it was an artifact from the "old world" so its probably not from Aionios, even early Ainios. But the only other time the XC1 and XC2 world could be together... would be before Klaus' experiment... i.e. from earth. Note the lack of fantasy elements, and the clothing even looks generically euro.
Now look at the bonde boy in the middle of X/Y.... looks something like a younger Shulk doesn't it.... which is the same as a young Klaus.
I think this picture might be young Klaus' family. X and Y were built out of some kind of remaining data, maybe even the painting itself. They have scratches on their face in part because they are an incomplete reconstruction. They really want to maintain Aionios because its the closest thing to the old earth where they existed... in fact its the only place where they really can exist, when the two types of matter were one without cancelling each other out. Recall how Klaus himself was split in two.
There may have been other non-human Consuls in the past made out of the rest of the family that have been killed in the interim until XC3. They'd be good Consul fodder because of their attachment to a joint world that was their home.
