Am I charmed or can I go?

    Sy what are you at?

  • AustinP0027AustinP0027 Registered User regular
Never played a rogue, so don't know the rulings, but my reading of Uncanny Dodge is that I can pick one dmg source to halve. So bite, poison, green flame slashing, fire are all separate so can only halve one.

If that's the case, I just dropped down to 32/94 (56dmg from that round alone)

  • fadingathedgesfadingathedges Registered User regular
To keep us moving, I'll post an action, please disregard if I'm not able to act.

Thane sends a bolt of flame before him, then follows it and moves opposite Sy to flank the serpent woman assailing him. "Be at ease, thief! Strike!"

Geth roll 1d20+10 for attack roll
Geth roll 3d10 for fire damage
Geth roll 1d4+2 for Healing Word

@AustinP0027 Voice of Authority: Sy, spend your Reaction to make an attack! We are flanking, and Sneak Attack can apply!

    attack roll:
    1d20+10 12 [1d20=2]
    fire damage:
    3d10 14 [3d10=10, 2, 2]

@fadingathedges I don't have a reaction. Had to use it on Uncanny Dodge.

So, you did blow the Charm save. Additionally, the lamia that ate Sy's face is dead. You do still get an action, if just can't be hostility at the remaining lamia.

On top of all that, you do get another save against the charm at the end of your turn.

    Lady Lorian

She walks confidently to the last standing Lamia, readies her blade, and stabs at it once! Then, she whispers a different encantation than before, runs her off-hand along the blade, and it almost seems to vibrate, it's definition becoming fuzzy. She stabs again!

Geth roll 1d20+10 for first attack hit
Geth roll 1d8+5 for maybe first damage
Geth roll 1d20+10 for second attack hit
Geth roll 1d8+5+2d8 for second attack Rapier damage and Booming Blade damage
Geth roll 3d8 for extra Booming Blade damage

(The last extra damage only happens if the Lamia "willingly moves 5 feet or more" before the start of my next turn)

Awww c'mon Geth, I needed the big roll on the SECOND hit

    first attack hit:
    1d20+10 29 [1d20=19]

The first strike hits the lamia, and she hisses in pain, darting to the side of the 2nd thrust as she eyes Lorian balefully.

Oh yeah, wouldn't be the first time I've mixed status effects up

Azara catches herself in her own confusion. 'This seems... familiar, wait... no!'

Azara begins slapping her Scimitar against the nearby pillar, keeping the piercing echo to rythm.

    Action: Countercharm
As an action, you can perform until the end of your next turn. During that time, you and any friendly creatures within 30 ft. that can hear you gain advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed.

Brygos had killed one wet, snaky, zombie lady, and there was another one over there. But he knew that one wasn't an enemy. Where did she come from...?

Oh, she must be reinforcements to the team after the dwarf went flying through the mud portal! Just like how Lorian came running up right after Whatsername met her slugly demise. Shame she looks just like the one Brygos just killed; hopefully she doesn't hold it against him. Kind of an odd way to say hello, though.

Taking a stab at what the undead's native tongue might be, he calls out in Abyssal: "Quit screwing around! These pillars are sinking! We don't know why, but it's probably bad! Quick, look around for something we can do with them!"

Something else is bothering him, but he can't put a finger on it. That rhythm Azara is tapping out is oddly catchy, though.

There's no other enemy on the room, and Brygos can't be aggressive with the one that's left. Sorry.

Action: pop a cork on a Potion of Healing and give it to Lorian. That friendly bite looks vicious!

Geth roll 2d4+2 for healing potion
Geth, roll 2d20k1+1 for WIS save (advantage)

    2d4+2 7 [2d4=1, 4]

"How long is 'one round'? That's like three minutes in the glad' fights I've seen, but you might do things different here."

I'm joshin' ya. But I am in favor of skedaddling, because if there's hidden treasure I sure don't have a clue what the right move here is. Besides which, one round may not mean a whole lot while half of us are still being destroyed single-handedly by this dang lamia.

We could still kill her, but then we need to move into puzzle solving mode ASAP because if this question is coming up, we can't have much time left before....????

Not summoning the lamias by searching the mages probably would have saved us some time. Mea culpa.

But we don't know what the "countdown" is even for. It could be a reward for killing everything in the room quickly, in which case one extra round might mean quite a lot!

Sy was frozen in place for a second, happily seeing the Lamia that attacked him fall but still reeling from the pain it inflicted. As he unfreezes, he turns to the rest of the group. "Why are you just standing there?" He moves towards the second Lamia to attack.

After his swings, he retreats over towards the pit and takes a look inside. Safe away from attack, they still needed to stop these pillars from lowering.

Sy's unexpected strike draws more ichor from the creature, her coils heaving as she makes ineffective swipes at the retreating rogue.

Sy peers into the pit and sees sharpened stakes at the bottom, the source of the pulsing glow emanating from the pits. Based on the designs he can make out, he thinks they might be Rods of Cancellation that have been fashioned into arcane spikes for an especially rude hazard.

    Go for it @kime
