I don’t even know what to say at this point. There are more mass shootings every year than there are days in the year. The only thing that makes this one significant is that people’s small children were murdered. But that happened at Sandy Hook, too, and we just kept on truckin’ with this Wild West bullshit.
I’m infuriated, sad beyond belief, and exhausted, all at the same time.
If you’re a gun person coming into the thread to talk about technicalities or how statistically rare these things are in the grand scheme of things, maybe stop and think about going to do something a bit less inappropriate, like farting in a crowded elevator.

The president talked about it. So, maybe something will happen.
Actually, I thought that about one months ago, but can't even remember which because fucking hell there have been so many.
Fuck this country's fucking gun fetishism.
And then I think about how Columbine happened when I was in high school, and it's only got worse. And how much worse it will be when he needs to go to school.
And how my parents never had to make this choice.
I am trying to find out how hard it is to move. To leave the country. It's just panic mode against the clock waiting until he has to go to school and I sit every day with anxiety wondering if he's safe.
Nope.
Nothing will happen until the GOP is at at least a 5 seat deficit in the Senate.
The NRA has mandated that there be strict gun control at the event.
You know, because somebody important might get shot otherwise.
As some added context, afaik Murphy represented the district where Sandy Hook happened when it happened. So he's gotten to watch nothing change after this shit happened in his own district.
'Okay are you going to campaign for expanding mental health programs?'
'No'

This won't change anything for the better, we'll just add more guns and call it a day till the next one.

But fuck getting inoculated against the horror of this. Fuck letting this seem normal. And fuck every politician that won’t pass the gun control legislation we need to keep fucking children from getting murdered.
Enough is fucking enough.
Feature not bug for the GOP
Natasha Bertrand is a CNN Reporter
Dunno how much clearer the futility of militarizing teachers is in the face of this development, but that won't stop those inclined to do so
Really frustrating to see the government's complete inability to prevent this entirely preventable tragedy from occurring
What a way to force the increase of gun sales.
To the people arguing in favor of the idea, I assure you that that's a feature, not a bug.
No worry about that, anytime a shooting hits the news the goobers run out and buy a new arsenal because they fear America would actually do something despite literally decades of that not being true.

This is incorrect. Sandy Hook was in 2012. Republicans controlled the House. And Boehner opposed any attempt at gun control of any sort.
I refuse to give in to these cretins. The Senate is the obstacle. I'll hammer that idea into every person I meet.
Oh they're way fucking past that now
Now they're advocating for taking away kids toys and giving them ballistic blankets instead

I think we mostly don't have threads about mass shootings because they turn into crappy gun control debates, but I think a fair chunk of the pro-gun geese that shit up these threads have actually been banned since the last one I remember, so who knows, maybe we can actually talk about it now.
Nope 50 gop senators say no, and you have at least 2 democratic senators against it. Manchin everyones favorite asshole and probably Sinema.
pleasepaypreacher.net
Nope. I doubt you have 50 votes to break the filibuster. If you even get that far.
Manchin is for it in theory but values the filibuster more than children's lives.
The pro-gun people are all in the pro-gun thread a few down, celebrating the passtime that leads to these mass murders.
