I’d like to make a website.

A pal of mine has recommended buying a domain from the evil company, Google, and they’re probably right. But I’d like to open debate to anyone who happens to be passing through.

My intention is post art, fiction and tabletop roleplaying games. The games would be for sale.

I am aware of multiple sites like itch.io and patreon, but I’d still love to hear your opinions on them if you have any insight.

There's the podcast darling, Squarespace which I believe includes storefront capability.

Otherwise the big selling point are their templates and customer service.

Yeah, I’ll give ‘em a look right now. Funny thing is, I’ve seen YouTube presents advertise for them for so long I naturally balk at them. Advertising tends to have the opposite effect on me.

    Thanks for the reply.

Squarespace is great, don't let the ads turn you off.

Yeah, that’s the ticket I reckon. It was staring me in the face all along. Thanks folks.

Hmm… I might keep looking around actually. As of right now it seems like a faff to use Squarespace, but it’s on the list for sure.

This is belated but I've used Squarespace for both my family company and my portfolio site, and it's fairly painless and also includes tools to buy a domain if you want a one-stop shop

I know my sister has used WordPress, but that may be closer to the realm of getting someone to develop a site for you in terms of complexity from what I understand

Hey, thank you. I’m still unsure which one I’m gonna go for, but I’m in the process of designing a site using Google Sites because you can make the whole thing offline for free, so at least I can test what I’d like an actual site to do.

It’s either the evil company or Squarespace, looks like.

Can I get a look at your portfolio site just to see what you’ve managed with it? @Cello
