That was too close.
It went from sunny and calm to high wind, hail, and torrential rain in like 2 minutes.

We were talking today about how much trouble I'm having letting go of things - both my own, and with my parents as they are downsizing.
The counselor suggested that for the things I'm struggling with, going the full Marie Kondo path and get them out of my space, then revisit in 3-6 months. At first she suggested taking them to my folks' place, but I'd be much happier with a storage unit that I control access to.
Thing is, it is an extra cost to store things... and there's the follow-through.
Her recommendation was to not put anything in there that might eventually go to my future home. But use it as a way to de-clutter my apartment and get some breathing room back. Have a plan for what to do in the future, and make sure it focuses on a short to medium term solution.
I'm thinking it might work, because it gets it out of my place and makes it easier to transport it in the future if need be. It also helps get physical distance between my place and my stuff. It might also help with deciding what to do with dad's things.
I am pretty gung-ho to give it a try. But I also recognize it's a bit of a knife's edge, and there's a lot of people here who would like to see me just toss things. But I think.. if I can put things there (like the stuff I've committed to sell or things that I know I want to sell), it might help my motivation... until such time as I fill my apartment again.
I was debating at first moving some of my storage/toy boxes out there, but that falls under the "will move to a future house" clause.
in this house we live long and prosper we live in a whole new world and our motto is hakuna matata. we know that there is no spoon and that if you say what one more fucking time you'll get whats coming to you. we have our bear necessities and the force is with us always
just fuckin' like rabbits while giggling and going to town on some pâté
Also does it seem correct to you that if you walk through a collection of your stuff you haven't seen in six months it will be easier to get rid of those things forever while you are looking at them?
Ugh joke is hard to have hit well with one font on forum spacing
