What kind of game is MultiVersus?
MultiVersus is an all-new free-to-play, platform fighter videogame with an ever-expanding cast of iconic characters and legendary universes, various online modes including a team-based 2 vs. 2 format, and on-going content-filled seasons.
Does MultiVersus have cross-play and cross-progression?
Yes. MultiVersus has full cross-play and cross-progression support across all platforms.
As of now, there are five distinct Character Classes: Assassin, Bruiser, Mage, Support, and Tank. Each of these classes typically denotes the general area a character is best used in, and here is an explanation of each, along with every fighter classified within them.
Every fighter also has a distinction that tells you which direction their moves are best suited for covering too: Vertical, Horizontal, or Hybrid. These are less important to overall gameplay, however, and more just a label to provide at-a-glance insight into their playstyle.
Perks are a type of power-ups in MultiVersus that grant various buffs to the Fighter they are attributed to. If the same Perk is selected by both players of the same guild, then that Perk will become Stacked.
Perks can come in one of the following categories: Offense (symbolized by the color red), Defense (symbolized by the color blue), and Utility (symbolized by the color green).
There are also Fighter-specific Perks, known as Signature Perks, that are symbolized by the color yellow.
Have a player who did really well during a match? At the end (best 2 out of 3 or if someone opts out) Toast them (an icon above their character) to give them a notification and +20 gold!
How to get toast: Players are given 5 Toasts daily upon logging in. More Toasts can be obtained by advancing through the Battle Pass, complete Daily Missions, level up Fighters, and get "Toasted" by other players. Additionally, you can buy 10 Toasts for 350 Gold Ui icons gold colored.png.

Like, only Steven can block? Finn has an item shop?? Velma can get you fucking arrested???
I'm sure other Smash clones are similarly inventive, but I'll admit the appeal of the IP got me to try this one. Well, that and it being free.
The game still has some work to do and polish but it's very promising. Plus F2P and on consoles that are not Nintendo is a big selling point for me.
I need to practice a ton but we can use this space to find other friendly folks to play with or against so we don't just get bullied by internet randos.
That explains a lot. I was like "did I overlook a blocking tutorial?!“
I was also not prepared for how deep playing freakin Bugs Bunny would be.
Yeah, they neatly slotted in the Smash Bros bubble block to represent Steven Universe's protective bubble... with the consequence that now he's the only character who can do it. It's insane and I love stuff like that in games.
Bugs is another example where he can spawn item drops and readily set up a teleporter that he and his ally can use with impunity. It's like every character has elements where someone can go "That's absolute bullshit" and it's wonderful.

It was nerfed heavily when Lebron came out.
Seriously, this game has been rad. The only downside right now is that there have been some significant latency issues since the open beta started, but I imagine they'll get those sorted eventually.
Yeah, I guess it is kinda hard to capture the fun of Smash. There was the Nickelodeon one that came out recently, but by all reports it didn't do enough to set itself apart/had other problems. Multiversus does a great job at differentiating itself. I mean it's a platform fighter so it's always going to get compared to Smash, but it does so much differently I don't think anyone can rightly declare it's a "Smash clone".
I was shocked myself, that's why I was looking all around cause I was sure I had just missed it.
Something I hope they really work on are the maps. The most exciting one is maybe the Batcave and even it's not especially exciting.
Also Morty drops August 9th*. Unlike Rick nobody has a clue what his moveset will be
*Evil morty skin will cost 60 dollars its just the eyepatch
One might even say it's....despicable.
Check out around 6:13 in this video. I basically ringed myself out. And not because of a bad play but it bugged or lagged me out of the ring at super high speed. That's happened few times.
On the plus side, it seems to beat out Superman's flight move where he grabs you while flying. Or I've just gotten very lucky a few times.
yeah their recent patch notes said they fixed that
I can also speak from experience to say that they did not. It doesn't happen often but oof when it does.
I've been playing some 1v1's now as well. I've got up to rank 105. My Duo's dropped to 210 from 54, and basically just because I haven't played any recently.
Tom and Jerry's are giving me the most problem now. They play a mean evasion game while you get death by a thousand projectiles.
Lots of characters 10+ they have found assets for so far. So it seems like the roster will grow quickly.
Race Bannon needs a moveset that revolves around throwing barrels.
Lion-O needs to have a taunt that gives him and his ally a buff if you can do it four times without taking damage.
When I vibe with shaggy that much it feels like my own ultra instinct is unlocked. Well, 0.0001% of it

Ive been doing bot marches because the bullshit teleport lag( teleporting me) has cost me several matches
Probably my best fight in that level. I felt gooood.
I'm so bad at fighting games but I feel like I could at least get decent at this one. I never really got into Smash but I'm having such a blast with this.
I'm still trying to figure out who I'm going to main. Maybe Finn? I liked my time in The Lab with him.

Yep! There was a "community challenge" to unlock it this afternoon and people hit it in like 3 hours. Kind of a neat surprise to see new stages go in like that.
Finn is who I main, he can move while charging attacks and the teleport stones ability is great. His entire kit is useful and dude moves around like a champ.
I feel like his special that does the bag spin may get nerfed just due to everyone calling it out but we’ll see. I find his charge up and left regular attacks way more op.
Played quite a bit today, got my solo finn rank to 39.
That spin move has definitely rung my bell a few times!
I agree with this 100%, a good Velma seems to dish noticeably more damage out than any other character, and can heal herself of virtually all damage. I dunno why people were complaining about pre nerf taz he had nothing on Velma
Taz was free at the time, Velma hasn't been (yet).
But it sounds like they're doing a significant balance patch after EVO. I'm expecting Bugs and Velma nerfs for sure.
Wait heals? That's rather baffling. Things like Reindog's leash is powerful but a quick enough ring out is gonna be an issue or you just focus Reindog.
Healing is undoing the enemy's progress and while she's unique and sure there is a cooldown that seems rather OP.
OP progress:
-Added @vamen google spreadsheet under the initial banner--add your info and use it to friend others to play more friendly multiversus!
-Perks section has been updated
-Moved FAQ section to the bottom of the page where it belongs
-Hid most of the info section behind a big ol spoiler so easier to scroll past
-Added in progress sections: Latest patch notes, Maps
I just started rocking Velma and she is indeed rather amazing. I partied up with a random Finn and we went on a crazy a run of wins.
I don't think it's her raw damage that's high so much as her range. Her quip and lightbulb attacks seem to have just a large hitbox. Getting lots of easy hits just leads to high damage.
