So weird to remember there were Game of Thrones t-shirts for sale everywhere, then the finale came out, and all the t-shirts vanished from stores within a couple of months.
Then again Black Adam and Tune Squad Lebron James haven't aged well either.
Why the crap did I ever make my original name "cloudeagle?"
Stripe was also huge in the trailer for no reason. Or maybe it’s the perspective playing tricks on me, but there were booming footsteps as he came on-screen. Just a weird choice.
Banana Guard will be a like tutorial quest reward character, which makes more sense to their inclusion. Returning accounts get a special Finn skin, ringout, and Banana Guard announcer. Everyone who played in the open beta (Jun '22 to June '23) receives the launch battlepass for free (must log in prior to June 11th to claim). This is kinda massive cause that also means we get Jason for free (he is included in the BP (normal purchase options available to unlock like any other character if you don't have the BP), and enough gleamium to buy the next one.
All currencies from the open beta will carry over, with some specific changes. Gold is no longer available, the uses have been splits be tween Fight money and Perk money. Players will receive "commemorative cosmetics that correlate to a player’s Gold earned during Open Beta"
Currency specializing, which seems dumb but whatever. Aquiring cosmetics now gives you a cosmetics currency, which you use to buy " the rarest cosmetics in the game". Shrug, we'll see what the rate is. Returning players will receive prestige currency deposits based on their current cosmetic unlocks
Perks have been reworked, removed, or reimagined. Mastery tracks as well have been updated. With these changes, all character paths are level 1, again.
Yall I think the iconic sleeping bag kill is a fucking command grab?
It's a special done when opponent is knocked down on the ground. The bag becomes a weapon for a bit, then you throw it w/ the victim inside clear to the edge of the stage.
Surprised to see how... plain? That stage is? Like okay sure the Mojo Jojo thing is fun in a Ridley from Pyrosphere way, but there's basically nothing else going on.

Didn't play the first at all, so I don't know if this is "We have added a Final Destination type location for those who had been wanting it" which would be good, or if it's more like "All of our levels are essentially Final Destination... here is another one," which is game breakingly bad.
Not a great first impression from a UI front, but they have fixed some of the glaring issues of the original UI.
The first dialog box having bad word wrap(where the word starts printing on line 1 and only wraps to line 2 when the wrapping character is printed.) tells me they don't understand the importance of a good first impression. Laggy menus in rifts where it needs to disconnect from a lobby, why do I need to care about that? Can't handle that in the background? And they've got a shoot the target minigame that has you select a character but then you just use a canon to shoot the targets so why am I selecting a character? How do you get break the targets so wrong? Why is the target timer 8 seconds longer than there are targets?
Also getting weird player behavior where they stop moving for 10 seconds and then start moving again. I could guess they disconnected and got replaced with bots, but it will happen multiple times a fight.
Big improvement to have perks auto selected so you won't go into a fight with no perks on by accident.
Annnnd server's down for me. Bummer. Game's fun but still feels lacking polish. Something about the soundscape feels incomplete. It's weird to think about how many little, imperceptible things must contribute to a game feeling really punchy and fun to simply interact with.
Importantly the actual fights are fun, and that's what actually matters. Shame I can't play the single player campaign because the server is down!
Edit: also do I really have alt+tab and force close to get out of the game if it's at the "down for maintenence" splash screen? Really?
Game feels better so far. Only four of the characters I unlocked previously stayed unlocked which is lame. Currency prices are still garbage.
The mini games suuuuuuuuuuck
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
The lack of audiovisual feedback on the menus is kind of killing me, and it's so weird that this is what's bothering me so much. Like there's a bunch of blades on a tab, and you're scrolling through them, and you expect there to be a flip flip flip flip flip CHUNK as you go through the blades and then select one or change tabs, and there just isn't, it's almost completely silent, and it feels wrong to my ears.
Anyway I also softlocked the game backing out of the rifts menu somehow, so that's cool.
I reiterate: game's fun! The fighting is fun! Dunking someone into a sleeping bag and then whaling on someone else with said sleeping bag is great! I kind of feel that most of the time spent after the game went dark was spent on getting the economy working rather than making the play experience better, though.
I don't think I'm experiencing that issue executing side attacks. Maybe it's a character specific thing? Or a bug with your setup somehow?
Edit: oh just saw it's with characters that have a side hold. Anyone in particular? I want to see if I can replicate that.
So I think it is a combination of not remembering I had changed the default options before and them removing what I changed it to. I had it set to swap side and neutral special. So I didn't realize if I am moving in a direction I have to, like, go to neutral then to that direction again to get side attack, otherwise I get the hold.
Edit: Okay yeah it still has to be a buffer option or something, like the one they removed, cause if I side dodge with Steven, then try to side dodge again, I get neutral dodge instead, hitting his shield and basically making sure I'm about to eat 60%
Gandalf the Grey (Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring)
I don't like that the Rifts are supposed to be a pve thing but you seemingly can't get all the rewards without doing it coop (though it IS nice that it's an option). Is there any special reward for the last tier or is it just another gem, anyone know>
So far everything feeling good. I picked up my mains like I hadn't had a break and was doing pretty well in the matches I played.
And I agree with the mini games...thumbs down on those.
Every second of this game felt miserable to play. Like I legit feel like I wasted my night here, which sucks cause I was so hype for it. I dunno, maybe there's some wonkiness, maybe the connections were just atrocious and that's why every single match felt like playing through molasses, even the bot ones, though admittedly to a lesser extent. Maybe that'll be sorted out, but I am utterly confused why they took out the option to swap neutral and side attacks, and also took out the buffer set option, which makes me unsure as I recall their default was fucking 30.
Though I might just be Playing It Wrong, considering the changes they made
Yeah, control felt wonky, but part of that is also just that I feel like attacks have really wonky hitboxes (that is, the actual attack just aims in a way that's not useful) for some characters, and there's dramatic pauses or something in the animations that just don't feel good. (Especially because it's basically asking to get hit when you float there for like a full second)
The Mojo stage is actually worse than I thought.
He never shuts up but unlike regular Mojo not shutting up it's not funny
The hit box for his saucer is super inconsistent
His attacks barely do anything why even bother making stage hazards at that point ?

Man, it's weird to think how far off the cultural radar GoT has fallen even since this game first came out.
Then again Black Adam and Tune Squad Lebron James haven't aged well either.
I loved playing Black Adam as well, but then they nerfed him into oblivion...but yeah not aged well
Fuck this game Im getting a refund
Seems like Agent Smith will be released some time into S1.
Exactly, he's like 6 guns, some of them are like the Tesla tanks from C&C Red Alert 2.

An argument I can't really refute. I definitely would be fine with this releasing at like $40 and doing the season pass thing, but I'll take it as is.
I did see some videos of recent gameplay and it seems slower and weighter so I'm curious how it'll feel now.
If Im reading right it seems characters are now slightly easier to get for free so that's something.
Yall I think the iconic sleeping bag kill is a fucking command grab?
There is something very weird about him shanking Bugs.

The guy that leaked the Jason screens prior to the announcement has stated they have about 30 characters in various stages of development.
Also...I can't wait to try out Agent Smith, I hope he's got some hilarious voice taunts.

I'm pretty stoked, it looks like they've done a great job.

Yeah the only way I've found to consistently just get side attacks is to buffer the attack from a different animation. This is...unplayable?
