So, Endwalker thoughts time (FULL 6.0 SPOILERS)
So this is my favorite expansion overall, I think.

Honestly, the only part that dragged for me was both visits to Labrynthos, it's just an uninteresting zone, and the 2nd visit comes right after all the insane shit that happens in Elpis, and then the game slams you in to a brick wall of "hey walk around this ring and do boring quests" for hours. Not good! Also, I really wasn't super into Fandaniel and Zenos tbh. Fandaniel was just kinda boring? Everything you do was part of his master plan, which is just boring to me, like I don't have a choice so I have to do these things and then he's like "haha you idiot!" Blech. As for Zenos, I really liked Zenos in Stormblood. I liked having a rival character, someone that you have to build the whole expansion to beat, and I thought the fight with him and his death were both cool. The problem is that they brought him back and tried to make him the biggest bad of all, and it's like...I don't care lol, I already beat him. Like, I get the idea of having this obssessed dangerous demigod that will do anything to fight you again, but it didn't feel like he did enough in the story to warrant his importance. I swear to god if he finds a way out of the empty void we left him in I'm canceling my sub lmao (also watching some of my videos back, I didn't realize at first that Alisae calls exactly what happens to him) I was glad when Meteion showed up and I could focus on the ACTUAL antagonist, at least. There was also the subway station portion of the Garlemald questline that I didn't really feel like it worked, I just...didn't really feel bad like they wanted me to, I guess? Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but I just felt more frustrated at the loyal Garleans that refused our help and tried to fuck us over and called me a murderer, etc. than I did actually feel remorse for things I had done to them. Like, yeah, I killed a bunch of Garleans before, because you have tried to take over the continent and kill everyone with a superweapon and tortured and murdered the populations of multiple countries, you know? Maybe I'm fucked up or something, but it just didn't give me the emotions it felt like they were trying for. I'm glad that it had a good resolution, with them coming to their senses and realizing we all had to work together, though.
I don't think you're supposed to feel remorse for what you did to the Garleans, I think you're supposed to feel remorse for what the Garlean empire did to its people. The goal is to show that the effects of the Garlean ideology apply all the way up and down the hierarchy. It's not just Varis and Gaius leading nameless mooks, it's generals, soldiers, and civilians who've bought into the belief that the Garlean method is the only way civilization survives.

remorse is probably the wrong word for it, maybe pity? I think the writers were trying to evoke pity.

Variant Dungeons are just them returning to the old labyrinthine dungeon model of e.g. the old version of The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak except this time there's a bit more going on with boss mechanics depending on what alternate path you take. Also, it's really just a branching path rather than having you double back from dead ends.

It's not the new model for MSQ dungeons because eventually you'd just do whatever path is the optimal one, yeah, but it's definitely neat and having actually difficult four-man content is amazing.

yeah they confirmed the intent of the final scene is that he died at the end of the fight. He's gone. ... Probably.
the frustrating bit is this expansion established a way to show that someone is 100% gone forever, soul and all, showed zenos dying in a place where it made sense to have happen even after meteon cooled her jets, and then just didn't use it.

of course people are gonna assume he's still around!

Probably gonna unlock the deep dungeon and not touch it until the next expansion. All my combat classes are maxed and leveling is kinda the appeal for me.

What do you mean? People are talking about mare lamentorum on balmung?

e: oh they're putting the autotranslate thing for it in their search comments? I have no idea what that means either.

Oooh, I looked it up, apparently it's a trigger for a custom third party tool that lets you see what visual mods someone is running and download them yourself so you can see the same thing
so yeah, for matching other people's clothing mods (or "lack of clothing" mods)

It has to do with visual mods.

You can assign mods to collections so you only see them on your player character and not everyone else. For example, if you want glowing eyes like certain NPCs have, you can install those in a way that affects your character without giving everyone else with your unmodded eyes the same glowy look.

The {Mare Lamentorum} tag comes in because people with mods installed can sync up with other players using a program called Mare Synchronos to see each other's modded outfits, models, mounts, etc. Obviously this is all verboten in-game and folks don't' talk about it in public spaces, so the tag lets the program know, hey, I'm using mods and we can sync up with each other to see what we have going on.

These mods are not *exclusively* horny, but are also mostly incredibly horny.

There are some really slick dance routines and combat animation replacement mods though.

    EDIT: And super beat'd.

A WHM got super angry at me in Labyrinth of the Ancients after I asked why a WHM was up front during the Atomos section trying to face-tank the adds and he told me he was green DPS and that I should shut up. He kept doing some annoying rescues, until we got to Behemoth. Once the meteors dropped I was like "maybe I should Surecast" and sure enough, I hear the rescue noise and then the dude dies. He then goes on a rant about how I must be super angry and I should "hit the court" (???), when two others on the team chime in that Rescuing into danger is a bannable offense and maybe he should drop it.

I don't know what is with some people.

I feel very fortunate that I haven't run into stuff like that in my [REDACTED] hours playing FFXIV. Several poor performers due to not paying attention, internet troubles, nerves/panic, or just not understanding their buttons, but I've been largely free of rude dudes.

Yeah there's something to be said about an online game where that kind of behavior is pre-emptively selected for elimination due to numerous factors like the community self-policing, policy against such behavior enforced vigorously, and clearly understood rules that are kept current and worded simply with examples to brook no confusion about what they mean.

It's always so obvious that they're just trolling. Like what were they hoping for? Whole faceroll alliance roulette just disbanding and going 'boy that's our evening ruined, boohoo'?? Hope a GM gave them a temp ban.

We actually DID wipe on Atomos. The reason I said maybe a WHM shouldn't be up front is that he ran up the first time and both did no damage and managed to wipe himself and a DPS on the adds. Our guys got off the pad to uncluster that situation and the Iron Giant spawned and one shot all of us. Never actually seen it before.

I think if you don't clear it before the iron giant comes out, the iron giant is a hard wipe mechanic that one-shots people with each swing

half guessing because I don't think I've ever seen the atomoses in labyrinth last that long myself

right. the part I don't understand is where anyone managed to die before the wipe mechanic. The only time I've wiped to Atomos is when someone pulled before enough people were in B/C and it was actually impossible

I've seen five people kill an Atomos, and that's with four of them standing on the thing

I imagine if you're down to only one healer, who wishes to troll instead of heal, wipes become much more of a possibility
