Nuking Windows From Orbit

Long story short my mother fell for a scam and installed a remote desktop app on her laptop.

I sorted everything out and wiped to reinstall windows, but is there something else I should be doing to make sure there's nothing malicious hiding on the laptop?

If you formatted the drive and reinstalled from scratch, you're fine so far as the PC goes. Your next problem is literally all her access, passwords, banking details, etc. Also reach out to the credit reporting agencies and lock her reports to help prevent identity theft.

Yup, I did all of that. Spent all day on the phone and changing everything. I did the reset windows / wipe all data option via Windows 11.

I think this time I'm going to set up myself as an administrator and her as a user and restrict all of her abilities to install programs.
