Polls just closed in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, so here we go. Map provided. Vibes are bad, but nobody really knows anything.

I voted for Dem. I'm not sure why they even need other votes. They should just have let me vote and then closed the polls.

Yeah, I'm not sure how well anyone is going to do at parsing VA numbers until we get to the returns. There are several factors that make this hard to compare to past races.

-We're in the post pandemic world, where voting has been made easier.
-We're also in the post Trump world where early voting and mail in voting have been demonized by republicans.
-There were no state wide races or state wide anything on the ballot this year and you can bet that is going to result in people not bothering to show up.
-The election conspiracy stuff probably makes it hard to get a rid on the GOP to an extend, like Tucker Carlson's shit that should get him jailed probably did more harm to GOP turnout than it helped because saying the elections are rigged to ensure your side loses, is a good way to discourage your side from even bothering because why bother, if the effort won't matter thanks to the results being set in stone.
-In that vein, the GOP embracing that shit or refusing to spurn it has turned off a number of republican voters. Not hordes, but I'd say significant numbers and the consequences for that doesn't always mean they vote democratic, but if they don't vote republican, that still hurts republicans.
    -Dobbs wasn't popular at all.
-Also no guarantee the media narrative doesn't also clip republican chances as well. I'm more concerned about people on the left not bothering to show up if they feel the results on set in stone, but the GOP side isn't immune to this either and that narrative may have result in some staying home; especially, if they weren't too enthused with their Trump support and election denying republican candidate.

I feel comfortable saying, who the fuck knows at this point.

So according to Ben Tribbett, a big political guru in VA for those that have seen me post stuff from him.

With the pandemic 'over' and the GOP attacking early voting so hard and in some states managing to roll it back. I'll point out that DeJoy is still running the post office and with asshole fascists showing up at early vote locations and drop boxes, that might make people less keen to do it. Not to mention, that we're all becoming more aware of how bullshit the signature game is. It's possible we might be moving back to the norm of pre-pandemic years where most of the democratic votes roll in during the evening.

We'll just have to wait and see. It's probably a mistake to try to compare elections in 2020 and 2021 to other elections because when you think about it. The pandemic probably did result in many people have more flexibility in how they vote, which like just meant you'd see more votes either show up as early voting or be cast at the precincts before the even rush.

Still worried that tonight is going to suck, but I'd rather the uneasiness being a result of voting patterns during election day returning to the pre-pandemic norm than the GOP doing well.

More seriously about Kentucky, there's an anti-abortion referendum on the ballot which is running way behind Paul. Might have a legit shot for it to be defeated.

One man, one vote. This year Drez is the man, and he has the vote. I see now flaws in this system.

Good luck doing your democracy 'murcans!

I have a problem. I told myself I would not watch the election coverage, and then right at 6pm I turned on CNN's app coverage. It actually makes me feel better to have that on instead of obsessively checking my phone.

Polls in VA has closed as of 12ish minutes ago. No mention of what the lines look like, since anyone in line at poll close still gets to vote.

+1 votes here. In Illinois, but still. I swear, I've lived at my current place for only two years and had four different polling places...

If I should need to name, O Western World, your powerfulest scene and show,
'Twould not be you, Niagara—nor you, ye limitless prairies—nor your huge rifts of canyons, Colorado,
Nor you, Yosemite—nor Yellowstone, with all its spasmic geyser-loops ascending to the skies, appearing and disappearing,
    Nor Oregon's white cones—nor Huron's belt of mighty lakes—nor Mississippi's stream:
—This seething hemisphere's humanity, as now, I'd name—the still small voice vibrating—America's choosing day

It would be nice to not have to fear for my my friends, family, and country on a biennial basis. To have an election that is between boring (but important) policy disagreements about things like transportation and tax policy rather than whether or not people that I love should be allowed to exist.

Voted D in a deep red district.

As soon as I voted the power for the entire surrounding area went out (the voting site itself was unaffected because they had a battery backup and generator).

I can only assume somehow the local GOP detected a democratic vote and EMP’d the whole neighborhood just to be safe.

God I hope the fucking exits are accurate for once. CNN has Ryan up 2.6%. Same exit has Dewine up 18, so that makes sense.

I did my vote thing. I'm now going to do my Play Yakuza: Like a Dragon thing and pretend there's not an election going on.

Proposal: future political contests consist of candidates suddenly ripping off their shirts and whoever has the raddest full-back dragon tattoo wins.

I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.

Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger is running three points ahead of President Biden’s 2020 margin in Culpeper County, Virginia. Culpeper County has 94% of its expected vote in. VA-7 is one of the battleground districts we’re tracking.

Spannenberger running ahead of Biden in Virginia is very good news
