An online friend of mine who lives in Los Angeles is facing a spurious lawsuit for $(more than they have). They're looking to hire a lawyer to contest it, preferably (but not required) on a pro-bono basis since they're very close to living paycheck-to-paycheck. The way they put it to me, they need a referral, not Google results-- quality is as important as haste in this situation. If you live in the Los Angeles area yourself and know of a good civil litigation attorney (or, I suppose, know one in the area as a professional contact), please PM me so I can get their contact information to pass along.

It's worth calling even if they don't qualify because the Legal Aid people should have referrals for low cost (though not free) services. I don't see a page on their site with this info, unfortunately.
