I'm guessing that the second Guiliani in that list should be McCain.

Unless my personal nightmare has come true and he's cloned himself.

They aren't in the Reagan library this time, so it'll probably be more 9-11 changed everything rhetoric. I wish I actually cared about any of them, but the field is just so damn pathetic for this election in so many varied ways. Especially McCain, when you compare him to the year 2000 McCain.

    The Odds

"In the Iowa Electronic Market, another futures market that has accurately predicted elections in the past, Rudy, McCain, and Romney have all flat-lined, and now a 'candidate other than Giuliani, McCain, or Romney' has a 41.4% chance of winning."
    I highlighted the important part.

According to Wikipedia: Since 1988, it (The Iowa Electronic Market) has predicted the results of American presidential elections more accurately than traditional polls 75 percent of the time.

Why... Why is Arnold Schwarzenegger on that list by intrade.com? I mean, he's not legally allowed to run >_>

I consider myself a moderate conservative, but damn if all the republican nominee's don't look like crap to me. I kind of like Ron Paul, but he doesn't have a shot at winning and he's also in favor of isolationism which won't work in the 21st century.

Heres hoping one of them impresses me at the debate tonight, but somehow I doubt it.

Sure if you think that people vote specifically on the theme of evolution for US President. You don't exactly exude the ideologies of moderates and conservatives, so I'm guessing you're just looking for an easy disconnect from Republican candidates.

I can think of at least five other national issues that would force me not to vote for a candidate, and evolution isn't even in the top 10.

How about the depoliticization of the FDA, EPA, and confronting global warming? If he's unwilling to reconcile his faith with science what makes you think he'll care about what those so called 'experts' with their 'facts' and 'evidence' have to say about anything?

Parts of me really hold out hope for McCain, even if he has pretty much lost it since his last running. However, I feel awful hypocritical for it, because part of me thinks he's pandering for votes early on and might take a more reasonable stance after all the other candidates are weeded out. The reason I hate Hillary Clinton right now is that she seems very strongly to be pandering for conservative votes, and if McCain's doing the same thing from the other side, I don't know if I can like him either.

Then again, maybe I just hate Hillary because she keeps kowtowing to the religious right instead of just being a moderate.

Ah yes, the FDA and EPA. Moving platform pieces, really. That's why I voted for our last senator. Confronting global warming? Please, if you noticed, the Baptists are part of the religious PAC that finds global warming a moral issue and wants movement on it. Nevermind the fact that I think they're all crazy about it, I'm fortunately not running for any offices.

To be fair, he does that most of the time.

Anyhow, the aspect of candidates going for the conservative vote will be interesting as we proceed. It seems to me that the Republicans might as well not bother with moderates, because the Democrats are looking far more reasonable.

    Nah, you don't get it.

I tape Road to the White House on C-Span every weekend. I've been watching Huckabee for over a year. I am thoroughly familiar with him.

And I have a pretty good feel for moderates and conservatives actually. My strong attachement to the Democrats isn't because of an extreme ideology.

Fact is, Huckabee is a light weight. Not even a very intellegent lightweight with a good resume like George H.W. Bush. Like, not an impressive, serious person. He would be destroyed. He's a chump. If nominated he would give a very amiable and polite concession speech.

I like honest moderates, but I'm favoring Edwards at this point.

    I'm confused.

You love him because what he says to the liberal base is "You see what these other guys are going to give you? I'm going to give you more. More More More. You take their most ambitious proposals - I'll double it."

Well, if you're talking about traditional populism. In the past few decades, populism has spanned a great many ideologies.

Oh, it's far from love. It's just that, from the candidates we've got, he's the only one that hasn't alienated me that actually has a chance. I might like Richardson if he had a chance, but the man's just too ugly to be elected with the way things work today.

Sure if you think that people vote specifically on the theme of evolution for US President. You don't exactly exude the ideologies of moderates and conservatives, so I'm guessing you're just looking for an easy disconnect from Republican candidates.

You have a point there. I don't know any other Arkansas governors that made it to president after being low in the ranks and overlooked. None at all.
