Computer disaster yesterday, snatched old laptop to use as box, CD drive is broken, thus I'm stuck using Win2k as my OS.

My first (unsolvable) problem I've hit (there have been many, many more I've finally managed to get over) is this:

Security codes for forums and such. The graphic alpha-numeric images which require you to type the letters/numbers in to check you aren't a bot. Can't see them at all: simply writes 'security code' where they should be. This is not helpful.

Using Firefox 2.000.4 (latest version) which I just updated to, no luck. Win2k Professional.

Had a quick look and it seems I may be missing something called a GD library for PHP. Only thing is, I can't figure out for the life of me how to download it. Do I have to download PHP too? (Why?!) If so, where from? Anyone else know a solution for this?

Bit urgent, since I can't actually get paid unless I can access a certain forum, which is currently security code blocked, and I can't contact the admin because (genius design) you guessed it: requires a security code. (Well, not entirely true, I'll end up going to a net caf, but still need it fixed!)

Hepl?

You do not have to download PHP or a GD library for it, seeing as how PHP is a server side program. You might want to right click on where the image should be and view image.

Sounds Java related. Download the latest from java.sun.com and try from there. or post a link to a similar squiggle box that we can view and make sure that's the issue.
