I really enjoyed Midnight Suns mechanically but I have a grudging criticism:

The game is far too easy at most low difficulties, like "you'll never fail a mission unless you completely forget the objective" kind of easy

There are 8 difficulty levels, and I ended up on the 6th, where mission were genuinely challenging and I had to retry several times and play really strategically, which was quite fun

But some heroes, or rather some mechanics, just don't work at that difficulty. Defensive mechanics can't keep up with the spiking enemy damage, so you're painted into a corner of being hyper aggressive and killing enemies faster than they kill you.

It seems hard to balance the desire for satisfying superheroines and genuinely challenging fights

I assume it falls into the same trap of death spirals that affects all individual specialized games where losing a guy ruins you?

theres a vampire in my Dwarf Fortress that's on a rampage. when I have time off work today I'm going to try and find them out and put a stake in them.

    dwarf vampires, y'all.

    labrq7qi4woa.png

Finding a dwarf vampire is really easy.

    1. Seal your fortress completely
    2. Build a tunnel to a lake
    3. Add grates to all the rooms
    4. Flood the entire fortress

The dwarves that are not vampires will die honorable christian deaths, the vampire will be vibin underwater, thats how you identify a vampire

do any of y'all have strong burger making thoughts? for years now i've done primarily smash burgers, which i love- but which i think are best served on buns. now that i'm looking at primarily eating burgers just on a plate, i'm thinking of going thicker (maybe a third of a lb). never really made a phat boi before. specific recommendations on fat content of the beef, cooking technique etc?

an egg in there will help bind the burger if you're making a thicc boi

i have no time for lean beef

grilled is best of course but lacking availability you can do them in a skillet. may want to invest in a $10 mesh splatter guard

Is the 10% a decimation situation, a flat tax angle or 10% of them pay taxes?

the JHS Show just revealed that for the last year they have been secretly using a Kemper amp modeler for their demos instead of real amps just to prove to audiophiles that they can't actually tell the difference and i am so here for this

    80/20 fat/beef for me.

Cook until the juice is clear-ish, don't smush them once they start cooking. Use a flat griddle.

    50/50 beef.

Wrap it around a stick of butter, roll it in panko crumbs.

    Deep fry it.

I like 80/20 fat for burgs, but I also go butter burgers. So that adds fat to the burgs.

    I like 90/10 for chili.
