Feeling like it might be worth noting that the author has 'reached infinite every season so far', so the deck may not be the greatest to climb with, as the author only needs to make 30 levels.
I'm up 25 levels since the beginning of the season, and the grind is intense now.
Not sure I'm going to make 40, and blowing out with Patriot or Surfer or Panther or whatever top tier deck is likely better for climbing.
I dunno, it's the hardest 30 levels so if it works there it should work anywhere. Maybe there's a higher amount of jank at lower ranks that would make it harder to play a control deck but I don't think that's ever been true in any game I've played. If anything lower ranked players tend to be so extremely dogmatic to "the meta" and aren't good at going off script. Like try playing some off meta shit in bronze League LOL they'll all threaten to report you. Granted, they'll threaten to report you for doing literally anything aside from totally carrying them.
I'm certainly having some fun with Control Sera. Enjoying the turn 6 "play a bunch of carda and drop/kill Nova to suddenly flood" which is a new cup of tea.

I just got Jane Foster, I actually wanted her to make Hoogland's Valkyrie deck. Hell yes.
I am definitely in the "opponent retreats or I lose when snaps" cycle so losing forward momentum and having sllllllow gains can be a downer. As is never Sera for the Sera deck.

If your opponent always retreats when you snap it's likely you're doing it too late.

I'm finding it hard to believe that they can be the hardest 30 levels, when again, I'm seeing far too many 'Heralds of Galactus' at level 50.
Seems like I'll be playing the same people for the next fifty levels.

How do you know you aren't being MMR matched against level 70 opponents right now though? I mean I can personally tell you the 70s and 80s were by far the hardest parts of my climb last season, and the 80s have been a bitch this season as well.
For context, I ended two seasons ago at 68ish and therefore started at 30 last.

I definitely have a tendency to Raise only when it seems really solid, which is then too late. Being kind of a bad card game player dampens my judgement, but I do enjoy when a plan comes together.

Yeah you definitely have to go out on a limb a bit to gain cube equity. This is why I continually deride people who snap AFTER Spider-Man/Absorbing Man, or Leech on 5. You gotta have the nuts to say "this is game winning 75% of the time so I'm going to ride those good odds."
Speaking of people going out on a limb, I just played against someone who did a turn 5 Sera into Maximus and Ronan. Cute but he still lost.
Just stole 8 cubes from some rank 100, by pinning their Panther with Armor to the Bar with No Name.
Makes matching repeatedly against them somewhat better.

Honestly as an infinite player a lot of it is just putting in the time. I won't say I or the majority of the others are vastly better paragons of the game.
There's definitely skill in it but a good part of it is the time and energy to get there. I have climbed higher on harder ladders. The fact that I hit infinite in month 3 is a testament, whereas it took me like a year to hit Diamond in SC2?

Yup. Time played, or more accurately, games played, is a huge dependency upon whether you rank or not in this game. I keep going back to the poker metaphor because it's most apt - the best poker players in the world don't win all their hands, or even the majority of them. They fold a lot of the time and win chips by being choosy about which hands to play, manipulating leverage, and extracting value in those hands that they do choose to play. So the secret to getting ahead is by playing as many hands as possible so that you can "skip" all the hands where you fold early and just wait for the game to play out.
This is why many online professionals will play multiple hands at a time, because the biggest bottleneck to them making money is time/rate of play rather than skill.

Jesus is Crimson Cosmos the secret featured location? I'm getting it like every other game.
I’ve resisted fiddling too much with this deck but now I suppose I must

This is the game I never should have won. Never be this guy.
I played that Zabu turn 2 to what would eventually be Oscorp Tower. He could have instantly snapped then and there and won the cube. Instead he stayed in and lost two. To be clear, it was low percentage for me to stay, but like, I felt it was worth it to give the extra cube because he was SO BAD.
Hmmmm well seems I’m done for the night, match stalled out at turn two and is just totally stuck. Every ten second or so it flash about reconnecting. Even uninstalling and reinstalling it just prompts me to reconnect to this busted match

Literally one of my most triumphant wins ever. He snapped after the Superflow mid turn 2 where I played Ant-Man, but I knew we had Starlight Citadel so I probably wouldn't be under it later. The Elysium on 3 meant it really didn't matter too much anyways.
THIS IS WHY WE PLAY JANK PEOPLE. GET THEM 8 CUBES.
I'm rank 31 and just played someone who had Herald of Galactus so I'm not sure that means anything. Maybe they're having extremely bad luck to get down this far?
oooh, check out what I just unlocked from a collector's box!
A worse Namor.
I mean I guess you can Venom him on t5 and not lose the +5 from having two cards in the location?
Attuma is relatively playable right now with Zabu since you can stick him and Armor on 4. You can also Zero him, and Invisible Woman works with him too.
Oddest win yet. They do not play any cards until T5. They play Magik. And the Galactus on T6. Which destroys limbo ending the match. I’m guessing they were counting on that 7th round.
What's your CL spool?
(Wondering if CL is used to match people.. but then you'd see the title last season? So idk)
(And stick him under armor/prof X)
I'm at 1680 and doing almost exclusively a destroy deck - Since I frequently have an empty lane I keep Namor around for an easy +10wjem O haven't managed to get Deadpool into the double digits... idk if this is optimal but it's been fun. I'm starting to get a little bored with it though so maybe it's time for Zabu Attuma Armor Prof X and some other dudes... the Goblin bros maybe? I don't have some of the key components for that Sera deck yet.
Had Wasp in my shop earlier, but passed because I'm looking for Brood. Just checked the shop again...and it's still Wasp?! Uh oh....is @lwt1973 problem spreading?

ugh, I was cruising with a Patriot deck but now for some reason all my draws are shit and I end up with my 5 and 6's all in my starting hand every turn? I'm sure it's just RNG but it suuuuuucks.
It's like when I kept drawing Iron Man in my opening hand of my Negative Surfer. EVERY. DAMN. GAME. I finally took him out of the deck out of spite.
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality
Had my first Sera control mirror match at 56 (against 1whosnaps).
May have been overexcited and spent the entire match Spiderman-ing.
Before retreating T6 for 1 cube despite nixing their T4 Sera T5 on Avenger's.
Not sure the other guy groked it as quickly but oh well

Also begs the question of why I didn't see the title last season.
Maybe I just need to wait a couple of weeks until these guys clear out of the lower (70s? 80s?) ranks.

Then I switch over to the Patriot Ultron and cruise right into Platinum.
Invisible woman is such a great addition to that deck, and it’s nice to feel like you have so much time to get your stuff out.
You really can win most games with just three cards. No faffing about, just find a nice clean location and set up shop.
