God dammit if you have to make that shitty joke you'd use Roth versus Wroth! It's right there! Agh! God, it's just... if I had no monetary concerns whatsoever I'd fucking hire a punch-up artist if I was this dedicated to posting

Part of my last job was to ghostwrite our CEO’s Twitter to make him seem funnier and more clever.

So despite being a complete idiot, at least that guy had slightly more self awareness than Musk.

Well, after the owner ignored and bribed his way out of pretty much all safety regulations which caused a massive explosion inside, he had his security people lock the goddamn doors and not let people out unless they paid for their groceries. Over 300 people died.

When the original case ended with no charges for the owner, people rioted. The supreme court vacated the original judgement. In the US I'm sure a similar case will be met with shrugs as well because we are a dystopia.

Reposting from the Webcomics thread more information about Scott Adams (thanks Brolo!)

On February 23, 2023, Adams posted a video in which he characterized Black people as a "hate group" and announced that he was "done helping blacks as it is no longer a rational impulse", claiming that he had "done it all his life and the only outcome is getting called a racist", and advised his white readers to "get the fuck away from them as fast as possible" and "I am also really sick of seeing black Americans beating up non-black citizens".[89][90] As a result of these statements, Dilbert was pulled from The Plain Dealer.[91]

That's 100% what it is, before they could hide behind the Michael Jordan "Conservatives buy our paper" but if he's out there screaming he's a racist instead of just implying it, they can't ignore it.

Ever since 2016 I've noticed more and more of the racists, bigots, and fuckwits of all stripes have started to cease using the euphemisms that once gave them plausible deniability for their horrid beliefs. There's a video on this that I recall basically saying when euphemisms stop being used that's a very bad sign because it indicates the people who used them no longer think they'll be punished for going mask off, meaning society is shifting and not for the better.

Adams has been a dip shit for so long, SO LONG!

Last year, Adams introduced the first black character to Dilbert.

His schtick was that it was a hire specifically only for diversity, but the guy self-identified as white, so instead, everybody called themselves black, thus circumventing the diversity requirements.

It's astounding that Adams survived that, and decided to double down on the racism.

Is Adams responding to something else or is this little temper tantrum entirely about getting a bad response to his dumb "black character is a diversity hire and identifies as white" storyline? I can't even see how HE could spin that as "helping black people".

The backlash began following an episode this past week of the YouTube show, “Real Coffee with Scott Adams.” Among other topics, Adams referenced a Rasmussen Reports survey that had asked whether people agreed with the statement “It’s OK to be white.”

Most agreed, but Adams noted that 26% of Black respondents disagreed and others weren’t sure.

So less a response to something, and more of an excuse to say what he was already thinking.

  • nightmarennynightmarenny Registered User regular
What an incredibly stupid question? What does it even mean? What would it mean to not be "Ok" to be white in this context? Someone was looking to start a fight and I guess they got what they wanted.

Important context: "It's okay to be white" is a dogwhistle coming from 4chan nazis to be racist.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_okay_to_be_white

It is not an innocuous phrase any more than any of the other various hand signals or code phrases shitbags use.

Yeah, like, it is an easily misleading question.

Like, conceptually? Yeah, alright, being white is, uhh, fine.

Actually saying the phrase "It is OK to be white"? I dunno man, I'd be giving you a lot of side eye for voicing that.

Seems pretty easy to get a lot of different assumptions based on what the person hears, instead of what you actually meant. Bad question all around.

This feels like the more pertinent bit of the whole dust up
The creator of the Dilbert comic strip faced a backlash of cancellations Saturday while defending remarks describing people who are Black as members of “a hate group” from which white people should “get away.”

Yeah the Overton Window has been getting shoved to the right as of late, and it sucks so much that the President, ostensibly the leader of the party ostensibly in opposition to the Far Right in this country, can't even hold some press conferences to unequivocally condemn this shit, much less actually push federal legislation to protect against GOP-held state legislatures stripping away people's rights and criminalizing their very existence.
