The Wii Remote hates me

So my little sister was just about to play some Wii, and the remote stopped working. She got as far as the menu screen, so it seems as though she didn't do anything wrong. I switched the batteries a few times, and that does nothing. Every time you press a button, all four lights blink for a few times.

Anyone familiar with this particular problem?

They blink, then what? It should hold onto 1-4 to tell you what # remtoe that is.

IF you open up a small panel on the front of the Wii, there should be a red button to synch up the remotes. You can try that.

When all four lights blink and then stop, the remote isn't connecting to the Wii. You can try re-syncing it with the button in the memory card door on the Wii and the button in the battery case on the remote.

Fun fact: it won't always just be four lights. It's actually a battery meter.

It doesn't hold onto any of the lights.

I just tried pressing the red sync buttons on both the console and remote, and nothing. It blinked for a little longer (maybe a minute), but still no response.

Maybe my receiver is broken somehow?

Uhhh irc you can turn off and unplug your Wii for a few minutes, then replug your console and re-synch your controller. This may help.

This works. Unplug your Wii from the power for 5 minutes, plug it back in, re-sync, and you're all set.

This drove me crazy 3 months ago, I bought a whole pack of batteries only to realize it just needed to be unplugged for a minute.

This may seem a stupid question, but how far is the wiimote from the sensor bar and the wii? (and have you tested it close to the sensor bar and then your normal distance)

I've noticed sometimes if I have the wiimote too far from the sensor bar/wii that I will occasionally get oddities happen.

Unplugging it and replugging it did the trick. I didn't even have to sync anything.

    Thanks guys.

My Wii used to have that problem all the time, it has since stopped.

Rather than unplugging and replugging, just letting it sit there for a while did the trick as well. It bugged the hell out of me, but eventually it resynced itself I guess.
