The Fall of Camp Weedonwantcha

This will probably sound like my Fall of The Trenches thread, but this wasn’t the only Penny Arcade related project that has gone under. Katie Rice’s Camp Weedonwantcha’s website has also fallen down. I’m pretty sure most of you know that Katie Rice is currently working on some big productions, which is a great thing about her career. Camp Weedonwantcha recently met the same fate as The Trenches website. The server didn’t respond, like the last one.

Camp Weedonwantcha wasn’t a topic really mentioned here and there, but it still had a general audience until the indefinite hiatus. Then the audience just kind of dissolved. The husk of the abandoned website (< i really like saying this) has fallen, and I don’t really think anyone has talked about the dead site. Yeah, check it out yourself. I probably would say that the website prices fell off, or that she just forgot about it all.

I always found the art style pretty charming and the characters funny and I really loved the animated body. (Talking about the big area below the header.) Rest in pieces to the webcomic whom have won the first and probably the only season of Strip Search.

I had always hoped, in the back of my mind, that this would come back in one form or another. I hope the comic is archived somewhere.

Yeah, camp weedonwantcha was one of those comics I always planned to go back and reread (I fell off during one of the season breaks), so it’s sad to see it go.

I did not read a single panel of it. Couldn’t tell you what it looked like. Tell me about it.

The comic went on hiatus because she got a job as director of the Animaniacs reboot. Not really related to audience numbers or whatever: just a big opportunity that she wanted to take.

Katie mentioned on twitter that the archives are backed up, and the site should return at some point (although not necessarily with new updates).

Ooh, that’s good to hear! Hopefully the trenches are backed up as well!

Katie's delightfully chaotic other webcomic Skadi seems to have suffered a similar fate.

I tried asking on the Club PA Discord, but no replies from anyone who might know more about it. I had hoped maybe Jacklemon would have some information, but alas.
