ITS A [movies] FIRESALE (CRITERON SALE ENDS 7/28, ARROW SALE ENDS 7/31)
They're playing fastx in the big ol dumb imax. Is it worth watching the series?

the two things i know about AAF:
There one hit was a cover.
They tried to make Movies a hit. Twice. After they became a one hit wonder they remade the music video to give it new legs on TRL. It lasted about a week.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Their lead singer broke his neck in a bus cradn right after their big break.
Watching through the Fast&Furious movies and 8 is definitely the weakest movie.
It’s almost too cartoonish. Like there are some fun scenes and stuff but it’s not that great of a movie.
The opening scene where Dom becomes the King of Cuba by winning a street race is just…dumb
But the Cuba race sets up the fact that he has gained resistance to Fire damage, which comes back later at the end when he shrugs off being hit by a missile.

If you haven't seen them, it is one of the most buckwild movie series out there, it's definitely an experience to watch it through so I definitely say yes

The Fast & Furious series is so much fun and absolutely worth watching, but you need to go into it knowing that there are some really low lows in terms of quality.
You also need to know it starts dumb and only gets dumber. Personally that's not a negative for me, but you definitely need to be willing to go along for the ride.

If you REALLY want a shock to the system watch the first one followed by the 9th one

Then watch Better Luck Tomorrow and remember it’s the same cinematic universe.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
At this point I don't think anyone of importance ever truly dies in the Fast/Furious universe.

I am finally watching The Raid since it's on the ticket for Nextlander's film podcast. In spite not being a fan of ultra-violence I loved Dredd so I'm excited.

The Double Toasted crew had that exact same reaction, so this was very amusing, and it's funny to think that they're right, the first movie does have its charms that the later movies don't:

I picked up that album before they blew up because of Smooth Criminal, and the whole thing was great.

Fast X was entertaining, but extremely disjointed and more importantly leaves pretty much everything hanging for Fast X-2 the one with the girl band, there was a point about a half hour before the end with the opportunity for a more satisfying ending*, but that was passed over in favour of another set of action sequences (which tbh especially the last bit were the exact right amount of dumb I have come to look for in the series.)
On the plus side though, Jason Momoa puts in a massively over the top performance and Alan "2 refrigerators in a suit" Ritchson as an agency goon is something I'd managed to miss in the promo stuff so that was a good surprise.

The part in question being Dante escapes with the Gods Eye thingy, on the bridge where it all started, perfect, go to credits, keep the last chunk for the start of the next film, oh no betrayal etc.
A more bold choice would have been to have one film about Dom running around and part 2 about the rest of the crew but I suspect that the ensemble aspect of the film being (Afaik) hard contracted puts an end to that
Cena being (at least seemingly) gone is a real shame because his road trip with lil B was probably my favourite part

Holy fuck.
It says something that even when the movie was in hindsight clearly wrapping up I was unstuck from time until it was really clear it was wrapping up.

That hallway fight with the door frame got the most visceral reaction out of my theater that I have ever experienced.

The Raid 1 and 2 are two of my favorite theater experiences that I've ever had based largely on audience reactions. Especially The Raid 2, where after one major fight finishes and everything goes quiet in the film as the scope of the damage is revealed, the entire theater is hushed except for one guy who audibly says aloud "oh shit!" causing a theater-wide chuckle because yeah, Oh Shit indeed.

I mean…I’m going to say yes but I love the franchise.

It’s wild that this is true despite the very next movie having them drive a Pontiac Fiero into space to ram a satellite.
Also Dom hulking out and ripping down two giant concrete beams with his bare hands.
Do they all three hold up equally? Because I think the first is kind of a masterpiece.
The opening race is the only good part of Fast 8
If she hadn't hooked up with Dom she'd still be alive. Can't have a baby mama and a side girl in this FAMBLY

even the bad one?
and if you land on a car it's basically a powerup

I found a friend that’s never seen a F&F I’m getting him to watch Hobbs and Shaw first then the rest of the series from beginning to end.
