Recommend a RPG?

My problem:

Increased boredom as of late because I can't find a good RPG to play. Some games I have enjoyed in the past:

KOTOR
KOTOR2
Fable
Quest for Glory I-V
NWN
Morrowind & Oblivion

I like more of an open end RPG where im not stuck on the storyline 100% of the time and can do my own thing. Would prefer a RPG for the PC, ive been hearing things about this Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines and how great it is, should I try it or is it not worth my time?

    Fallout 1 and 2.

Vampire is pretty good, but has some technical flaws. Story wise it's great, but not really all that open ended. You have quite a few options regarding your character, but not so much plot wise.

    Fallout 1/2
    Baldur's Gate 1/2
    Planescape Torment

If you haven't played any of these before you really owe it to yourself to give them a try, they'll also be really cheap these days.

I'll see those and raise you a Deus Ex.

I predict Arcanum and Anachronox will make appearances in this thread. I've never played either, but I might as well recommend the, because someone else will 5 minutes from now anyway.

Oh, shit. How could I forget about Arcanum? You simply can't go wrong with a steampunk Fallout game.

Anachronox, not so much. In fact, it was pretty bad.

The gameplay's not fantastic, but it's easily the funniest RPG ever written. Anachronox is part adventure game and part RPG and since the OP enjoyed Quest for Glory, he'd probably get a kick out of Anachronox.

    But that's not an RPG.

If it was, you could make an argument that Silent Storm is an RPG, which it's not. It's quite clearly an (amazing) turn-based tactical game with character skills and experience levels. Deus Ex is just an (amazing) FPS with character skills and abilities.

Also, if you're really hardcore: Angband.

What they said. It looks even more like ass now than it did 5 years ago, but what a game. Just keep a leather-wrapped stick handy to gnaw on while you're being raped by crabs and plant people.

NWN2 is really good, way better than NWN1 and my expectations for it. Of course, it doesn't live up to the glory days of BGII and Fallout, but you'll be waiting a long time for a newer game of the caliber of other games in this thread.

    Mount and Blade

It's quite a bit more action packed than your regular RPG. But it is a wonderful time waster.

    Tribes RPG

Again, not your typical RPG style game. But TRPG will definitely keep you occupied for a couple weeks. I would also suggest that to everyone that hasn't tried it. The level up and skill systems are really something that should be considered for more gaems.

And if you've got a Gamecube. Go snag a copy of Tales of Symphonia. Quite a fantastic RPG. If you don't have a gamecube. Go get one, and snag a copy of Tales of Symphonia.

You have the option of going for independent devs too. Spiderweb Software has been making shareware RPGs for over a decade now and you can download big demos of them. Geneforge in particular has become a favorite series. Something about walking around with an entourage of mutant horrors that I name after Cthulu mythos beings just speaks to me I guess.
