Using Gabe the character to talk about Gabe the person is weird.

Yeah, i get that Gabes supposed to be the simple kind of man, but i almost feel like the roles (speech bubbles) could've been reversed in this one, because of that malaise from seeing him talk about himself in third person. Maybe there's a context i dont quite get from the whole rainbow six angle that makes it make more sense.

He's referring to his real human child, not himself.

    Or just say "my son".

    His child, even?

he is definitely talking about his son, sometimes refered to (by Tycho) as "Gabriel the younger". it took me half a minute of "What?" before realizing that, which might be because i'm tired. And while it does makes sense for Gabe within the comic to just refer to his son by a nickname, it does get confusing when this nickname is what the reader is just used to use as the name of Gabe, the character.

Gabriel the Younger, also called Yung Gabriel and Gabriel, second of his name, has been in the comics for many a year, so it's not unreasonable to assume people know who they're talking about if Gabe makes a third person reference to someone named Gabe.
