Introducing, WoW classic Hardcore. A new server that is in the works coming this summer.
If you are familiar with the Diablo mode Hardcore, you should know what is in store for WoW classic.
You are given 1 life for your character in these servers. There will be new rules of how the game is played. PVP will be off limits and dungeons will have lockouts.
You will be able to play on a different Classic servers after death, but your death will be permanent on the Hardcore Server.
All resurrection abilities like that are off the table.
This means that if you die, you won’t be able to run back to your corpse and resurrect, nor can you be resurrected by any other spell or ability. This means that even if you have abilities as a part of your class, such as the Shaman Reincarnation, or Warlock Soulstone, they won’t be of any use to you.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

Honestly they should take a page from diablo and treat those abilities as like a cheat death proc for rogues in current wow. But that would be a change and I know this community isn't fond of them.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
still having a difficult time grasping how hardcore enthusiasm was enough to get blizzard to launch an entirely new product line... for people who were already paying customers being adequately (and probably better) serviced by an addon pack...
and yet I couldn't write a check to Bobby himself to get a real vanilla fresh

I'd say you could probably blame this on twitch and streamers. They pushed hard for hardcore in the community and turned the ears of multiple blizzard devs.

Big community, there's a theoretical "always new character" on the line because you can die practically any time, great way to keep sub numbers up.
Though seasonal classic is just as good I bet. Hardcore requires fractional amounts of work once they solidify all the game rules compared to actual vanilla seasons maybe?
It stays relatively fresh in comparison to seasonal servers, honestly both would probably work for their purposes.

it's something people were already doing on their own, and I suspect (given the infrastructure they've already built for season of mastery and such) that it wasn't all that much work to make an official implementation.
it's weird to me that people are so into it (I mean, everyone who plays this game has experienced a group/raid wipe caused by a random disconnect or something), but if enough people want it they might as well get it.
I do kinda think there should be some ability for players to rez one another, though; like maybe have a minute timer during which you can be rezzed before you 'die' for real.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
A hardcore server means everyone is on the same page compared to a community-built challenge on a server where people aren’t in the same mindset. Now you can group with random pubs knowing you’re both hardcore characters.
One theory is that this is to keep classic players around while Wrath Classic launches ICC, and once ICC has had its time, they can release season of mastery 2. Just min-maxing player retention, really.
Yeah an actual hardcore server will hopefully stave off what happened to the west coast pve server that was the default hardcore server in season of mastery that murdred the community for non hardcore players

I made a priest. Going from Shadowglen to Dolnaar I saw something like 8 people die. While in the little village with the furblogs I saved two people one said nothing. the other I shielded and healed I got a whisper of WTF is wrong with you!
I logged off at level 15 so I will see how far I can get one without dying
A lot of the people playing these servers played under the previous rules on the unofficial servers so no helping others, no grouping with others unless you're in a set duo/trio. Its having a culture shock with people who uhh didn't play with any of that,

Thought I'd try this last night, was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Logged out at level 6, quite a few people around in the SW starting zone. A real sense of caution, and not having any resources or gear to magic up was fantastic. Instead of having a full set of heirlooms and a motorbike, I was excited about a grey armor drop. Amazing. However I'm not sure how fun it would be to do this same area repeatedly if I die. See how we go.
yeah i think the hardest thing is just i would go insane if i died and had to do it again. id at minimum have to do a totally different character
i think were I to really make an attempt, there's a level beyond which if I died I would just transfer and finish it off, and that level is roughly 30....
i got my druid to level 9 but goddamn is mulgore boring...
this is heretical but if theres one thing i wish they'd adjust about classic its some of the race/class mixtures... give me a troll warlock... its perfectly within the game universe... you see troll warlock NPCs in the starting zone!!

At least you can go different places after, imagine being a night elf when you can't do the corpse run
Had my first death, lost a level 14 warrior to the elite horde patrol in Loch Modan. I knew about the danger but thought they patrolled a different part of the zone and it was all over in a flash. Was bummed out for 30 minutes or so but rerolled as a druid and am back up to level 9.
I'm really enjoying HC mode. I didn't care much for classic when it released because I had already played in vanilla but hardcore mode is a very different feel. There's a palatable sense of danger that makes the world feel alive that I never had in classic and I spend more time plotting and thinking of ways to maximize my chances of survival. Darkshire is actually scary now and venturing into a cave for a quest puts me on edge in a way that wow has never done before.
i think a lot about what class i'd play if they ever do another regular season of vanilla and it doesnt matter what i come up with, i always yearn for warrior, no matter how shitty it can be
i had *dreams* of warrior last night
men only want one thing and its SWEEPING STRIKES CRITS

As long as you’re night elf and edgemasters drops in the first couple weeks
used up the entire guild's thunderfury luck on my pre-raid BIS, smdh
honestly I would happily do it again without those gloves, i wouldn't say i regret using them, but i never liked fury, it was never my intent to be a fury warrior, but the game simply had other ideas as to my ultimate destiny
Had the most incredible luck on my warlock last night, was in Westfall fighting a Defias mage type mob, they throw fireballs. He must have crit me as my health suddenly plummeted, and I thought it was all over. Then he went down, and I was still alive. Looked at my health bar and you literally couldn't see any of the bar. I must have been on 1 hp. Crazy.
I made it to 32 as a priest woo not dead yet. In westfall I saw ton of people die in Moonbrook but far more in the farm with the harvesters and Defias. Seen a lot of dead druids though far more than I would have thought
Basically I am just watching what I pull and where I am in almost paranoid levels
Been told a few times of why holy and go shadow
shadow fucking sucks until you get shadowform. sure spirit tap is nice, but it can be hard to actually get a good amount of spirit on your gear without losing stam and int. but grabbing wand spec in disc will make everything easier so long as you bother to get new wands occasionally.
Warlock appears to be benched atm, started a hunter and the classic vibe is so good. Pet happiness, having to level it, having to feed it. For some reason I just love classes that have a buddy along. Doing Loch Modan and having 2005 flashbacks all the time. I'm even fishing and cooking, not sure why but it's just part of the experience.

Is HC running a version where Broken Tooth is the be all-end all, or one where pet attack speeds are normalized?

Made even funnier he did this a day before his guild cleared MC without him.
