As someone who sees music theory/composition as basically witchcraft, this was cool as hell
If you don't know what MUGEN is, it's ostensibly a fighting game where characters can range from carefully crafted homemade Street Fighter fan additions to someone's immaculate shitpost that takes up the entire screen and does no damage. In other words, glorious chaos.

Ok I know it's lame and meaningless and propaganda but I couldn't help but laugh at the new ad that MTG just dropped for Biden:
There is nothing that made me understand democrats better than Biden complaining that he didn't get enough credit for the economy. This garbage as economy that gets worse for worker every day. They live in a different world.

Not to be too leftist about it, but I don't think the economy has had much correlation or even interest in the prosperity and welfare of actual people for a long time.
Yeah but the media and the government likes to talk about the economy like it does.

Oh, certainly! I was trying to hint at the fact that this isn't so much Biden being out of touch or sheltered as it is capitalism working as intended. If the line goes up the president is doing their job and the investors and companies are happy. The line going up is more important than the happiness, health and fundamental freedoms of the people. The companies have spent incredible amounts of money to make sure this is the case.
How could you!
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how he was able to do these zooms from an incredibly tight macro shot to a super wide establishing shot all without any cuts...
How was he getting perfect focus over the whole shot? Maybe it's just a single still image zoomed in digitally? No... That would require petabytes of resolution.
In fact, wouldn't it be literally impossible to film that without multiple different lenses?
And then my brain clicked
"Oh! The zoom is animated from single frames! Shoot on a macro, zoom out a tiny bit, shoot again, zoom out, change lenses, match aspect ratio, shoot, zoom out, change lenses again..."
Hollywood studios would spend a ton of money making this shot digitally, and he's done it all in camera.
Fuckin Kubrickian film making this is. He's just some guy!
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
And I do kind of think it used to be true. Or at least it was less untrue before. Like even back in '08 I definitely felt the shift as the economy recovered. Not so much now.

The future presented is a false utopia where bad language has been criminalized, guns are banned so effectively one can only find them in a museum, only "pleasant" music can be found on the radio such as commercial jingles, physical touch is seen as repulsive and is avoided, even in the practice of "sex", and the eating of meat has been abolished. The "underground" is led by edgy comedian Dennis Leary who wants to return to the days of cussing, drinking, eating red meat, and fucking, which is meant to be the sympathetic view to both the protagonist and the viewing audience.
Also the villain is a flamboyant black man and practically the only person of color you see for most of the film.
It's effectively presenting a mid-90s liberalism in the same light as Idiocracy presents Bush-era conservativism.
Of course you'll have equal amounts of anti-liberal folks spouting that old cliché the same way liberals like to frame Idiocracy as "prophetic".
Personally I think we're heading towards more of an Escape from New York situation, aside from NYC actually being hyper-gentrified now.
