Instated watching a couple of those board games but with punishment videos... Until I saw how much alcohol they were imbibing, and how fast, compared to the length of the episode. I decided they weren't for me at that point.

God, I hate how YT has inserted shorts into subscription lists; there's absolutely no way to tell what channel they come from, because why would you include a channel badge or name in there. I am this close to finding or writing an add-on that just hides shorts entirely, even though there's a channel I follow that exclusively posts those...

I watch almost all my YouTube cast on my TV. If you attempt to cast a short the app tells you you have to stop casting, watch the video on your phone, then recast to continue watching over videos

That has to be a business decision, not a technical one. I didn't need more reason to dislike shorts but they couldn't resist I guess
