Hmm
I was really excited for Oppenheimer but came out of it not really wowed all that much. Very middle of the pack for Nolan’s filmography. The things it does well it does really well, but the there’s too much length for the content, the final act is slow and fairly detached from the main story before it, and Nolan makes the really weird choice of filling in the dozens of major supporting roles with a roster of C-listers and hasbeens (forgotten so-so actors like David Krumholz, Josh Hartnett, Matthew Modine, and Dane DeHaan get scads of screentime). Nolan still has not improved his grasp of human interconnection, and the women in this film are again thinly written like all his other films.
*sigh*
It’s a gorgeous film and he’s got such a talent for the semiotic and visual aspects of filmcraft, it’s such a shame to see someone so close to greatness fail the same way again and again.

Is it at least told upside down and in inverse alphabetical order?
the last wedding i was at, i was one of like 6 people out of 150 who weren't in some way related to the bride or groom
irish weddings and second cousins, a powerful combination
I have nineteen aunts and uncles and maybe twoscore cousins, and that's just first cousins

It wasn't a bad movie. The trailer did get me in the theater. Few can. And I liked the closer view of the story and Robert as a flawed human being asked to shoulder history.
And I like the OP's youtuber recommend. Brows held high is also a neat dude. His long form essay on Emberto Ecco's Name of The Rose is good too.
Hah, I got a minor error in my motorbike test for building up too much speed into the emergency stop manoeuvre

i don't know how many cousins i have, i've not seen a single one of them in like 15 years? The idea of paying for them to be at something has me allergic

You can just not invite any extended family. Like if you don’t invite any cousins aunts/uncles, it saves a lot of money and headache.

I mean I’m not planning a wedding anyway but her side of the family is close and you can’t really have like 100+ on one side and like 8 on the other

We went to a wedding.
And they throw a party afterwards where they got gifts and show the wedding video.

You and your 8 just need to cow the others with feats of drinking and force of personality ez

At my wedding I had three blood relatives and my sister's husband, versus over a dozen of her family
My side of the church was bulked out with mutual friends and some family friends we used to holiday with
Ok at this point there needs to be some fairly extreme legal options here benefitting you and these folks?

So frustrating.
So hubby and I have vent watching clips from The Goes Wrong Show.
But we can't get full episodes.
BBC streaming service won't work down here, we can't purchase it from Amazon Prime since we're not in the UK. We are most likely going to just either subscribe to Prime (which I was going to do again anyways for Wheel of Time) and stream the show, or order the DVDs from the UK.
Only ordering the DVDs means we need to pay shipping. Plus find a DVD player.
Hotel accommodation in cases where an overnight stay or a stay additional to that intended by the passenger becomes necessary.
Refund is based on average price of 3-star hotel. Invoice must be in passenger's name and related to additional stay at disrupted departing station. We do not cover any prepaid services.
We are only liable for flights that are on an Icelandair ticket. If you have a connecting flight which is not on the same ticket as your Icelandair flight, you should contact the airline in question directly in order to make changes to your travel arrangements. The same applies to connections with trains, ferries, buses and taxis.
Not that it helps everything but should recover some of that cost
I could make an OP about Gaius Gracchus or Gaius Marius being re-elected out of turn but instead It's Been A Hard Day's Night so
what about tiberius gracchus? oh yeah, he wanted to give land to the poor so they wouldn't be homeless. wonder how that worked out between him and the Senate
It just strikes me as obviously insane that in 2023 people can be stranded somewhere with an operational airport for multiple days or even weeks at a time with no alternative way out.
Like if flights were grounded due to an eruption or something like 9/11, that I can sorta get, but just...trapped, for an indeterminate amount of time because there are no seats? And the airline isn't doing anything about it?
Is this a case where you can rent a car or boat and just travel or are there no overland / safe alternative routes?

Sure you can, I had my wedding out in Buffalo specifically because I knew most of my extended family wouldn’t make it to that and half of them can’t stand my mom so I got to send them polite invitations I knew would come back rejected. Most of the guests were my wife’s friends and family,
Why are you stranded? What happened to all the planes
It's a tiny airport and IcelandAir has been cancelling flights rather than delaying them and waiting for the fog to clear
Yesterday's flight they finally delayed instead of cancelling so it went out 5 hours late, which IMO is *fine* because at least people can get off the damn island
edit: Air Greenland has just been delaying and then sending the planes in, so it's been infuriating watching the weather clear and then all these red airplanes come in

We’re lucky in that we had our wedding during COVID so we had a vaccine requirement so we got to be “nice” and invite all her extended family but knew they wouldn’t come.

Isn't the point of an emergency stop to be ready to do it at any speed?
You're required to pass through a speed trap at a minimum of 50km/h before they signal you to stop and I hit it at 65
The most common way to fail the manoeuvre is not going fast enough, which I did several times in mock tests, so I uh, overcompensated

I picked Gaius because despite Tiberus' attempts, Gaius was the one successfully elected to a consecutive tribunate, so it fits with my theme.
