Darksiders 3 finally off the backlog. I liked it better than 2, but it was pretty buggy, like the DLC Void weapons becoming unselected at random all the time. The Force wall power was buggy and kind of slow as well. Took alot longer due to Super Mario Wonder and now SMRPG coming out. So now what series to play? Batman Arkham, Tomb Raider, or Halo? I'll probably try Cryptark along the way since it doesn't seem to be a long game.

Yeah, I don't miss that at all.

Mostly the thing for me is that usually Steam Sale prices are still worse than you find on random pages at any day of the year.

Generally speaking, I never buy Steam games on the actual Steam store. It basically always has the worst price.

So, hard to care about sales!

Backpack hero is really fun. It eats time like crazy though.
It has some pretty drastic scaling, so you need to build power every level. But stuff like this is really fun to puzzle out:

I generally don't do this with indie games since a lot of the keys you get elsewhere are people selling bundle or other keys and the developers are getting cut out.

Pretty much any significant publisher though? Fuck em, g2a all fucking day, 92.5% off yes please.

Not if you buy them from reputable sites...

Buying Steam keys for indie games from the reputable sites is in fact one of the BEST ways to give them money. Because Valve only takes 30% if you buy directly from their store BUT also allows game devs to generate as many keys as they want to sell elsewhere and takes nothing from those sales. The only caveat Valve has with those keys is they can't be sold for less than what they're listed for on Steam, otherwise no restrictions.

Yeah but I've seen way too many devs post receipts from supposedly reputable sites showing they bought thousands of keys at as little as 5 cents on the dollar, and unsold keys end up on reseller websites a few hours after they leave the promotion.

My own reason for no longer buying indie games through any reseller is when my first and only payment dispute through cdkeys ended up being with a particular "legitimate" seller using the gray market as their clearance aisle.

The problem is what sites are reputable. There's sellers out there that get recommended a bunch because they're popular and don't seem shady but still buy keys on the grey market.

I doubt Humble or Fanatical would be on that list. They're pretty open that they buy directly from developers and publishers.

If you check https://gg.deals there's an option on the main page that let's you filter the current deals so that you only get result from official sites:
    7ym5uy591b1z.png
It's a good way to avoid grey market key resellers.

As for https://isthereanydeal.com/ and the Steam browser extension https://augmentedsteam.com , I believe that the only use legit sites and avoid grey market on their searches.
You can check the store list they use in this link:

Eh, every sale something on my wishlist hits a historical low, so I don't have that complaint. Third party websites often undercut Steam prices during Steam sales too

It seems there are some exceptions to that restriction. Elden Ring and Armored Core 6 were both sold via Fanatical, an official reseller that works with publishers, for a few bucks less than the listed Steam price.

I like supporting GOG and Steam, too. If I find a game through one of the means by which they showcase selected titles and/or recommendations, I'll wishlist it, or buy it if the price is right and the timing is right to take on a new game. Saving the shopping around for when I hear about the title through other venues.

    Nothing personal. It's just business.

the main benefit with buying through Steam is their refund policy. Ive gotten a bunch of games on Steam that for one reason or other I didn't like, and as long as it's under two hours playtime, Steam will do a full refund

Not a drop in replacement, at least.

I don't doubt the will be at least one entrepreneurial soul out there figuring out how to do it, but I half expect it to require some custom printed stuff for the project.

Isn't G2A one of the scummier grey market sites out there?

But yeah, during a Steam sale, I will skim other legit sites who also tend to have their sales at the same time and see what deals are happening.

additionally, against the storm has enough UI features to let me know which plates I am failing to spin, where as unless I devote my entire brain to the game, I'm getting lost in Ratopia data.

Still, until I start drowning, great fun.

ITAD has issues figuring out when sitewide coupons actually work for a specific game. Sometimes it just assumes it does but it's one of those "not valid on new releases" or it stacks a coupon valid on full price games with games already discounted.

It's really not a simple problem to solve and usually a quick glance can help show if it's stacking coupons.

Meanwhile I'm over here having mostly stopped using deals websites because they can't factor Humble's "I'm subscribed to Humble Choice" and GMG's XP thing.

And then I forget about that during sales and go "fuck it" and buy on Steam anyway.

(Or more commonly, "Ooh, there's a nice sale over here on that Assassi....oh, it redeems on Uplay or whatever the fuck Ubisoft calls their software now. Nevermind." )
