This is a bit of a narrow and highly specific question, but I honestly don't have the faintest idea where else I might ask, so I thought I would try here. Please bear with me!
Recently I have been implementing physical security keys for all of my 2-Factor authentication wherever I can. Yubikeys, mostly (And yes, I do have backups in a physically safe location).
I have an android phone, and I want to add these keys to my account and enable Google Advanced Protection in order to strengthen security and reduce the possibility of an account hijack. I've gone through this process on another Google Account (one not tied to my phone), and what I know about the process is as such: You register the keys, and then all sessions are logged out immediately and you need to log in using the keys.
I want to do this with my account that I have tied to my Android phone, which is a Pixel, but I'm afraid that if my phone gets logged out of my Android account it's going to play hell with everything. From what I gather a lot of settings, accounts, etc. on the phone are automatically tied to the Google Account you specify. So if my phone gets bumped off of my Google Account in the process of activating Advanced Protection, I'm afraid it's going to nuke my gmail inbox, my Gdocs, and so forth.
Has anyone ever activated Google Advanced Protection on an account actively tied to a Phone? What was the process like, and was it easy to navigate?
Thanks much in advance.
