Do you get to keep all the traversal skills you learn in the first Jedi game? The game didn’t really click with me until the last eighty percent of the game when you get all of your movement powers.
Jedi Survivor spoilers for a towards the end of the game boss fight and character outcomes/death
has a hilarious boss fight where it does stuff that RPGs have been doing for decades where you can completely punk the boss in game and then a cinematic happens and the character you're playing is killed by the boss. I remember just being like what is this, what are we doing here, guys?
This fucking game just had someone say, "Wow, that escalated quickly."
If the only punchline you can come up with is someone else's punchline, perhaps writing jokes is not the thing for you. Perhaps hire someone who writes jokes to write new jokes for you, or perhaps leave jokes out. Maybe gesturing towards pre-existing humor and calling it a day isn't worth the trouble.
I haven't felt this divided on a game in a minute. There is so much in the writing that I truly hate, and yet, goddamn is it a joy to actually play. Damnedest thing.

I really like the Jedi games because the gameplay clicks for me, the characters are (mostly) really fun, and it does a good job of getting the "feel" right. When you're really in a groove with the traversal or the combat, it just feels wonderful.
But hoo boy, I would never go off comparing the writing to Andor. The first one at least had a more cohesive plot in some ways (even if it also got bogged down and found itself with some real flimsy connective tissue at times), but it's about as bog standard of a Star Wars story as you get. It's perfectly serviceable, but going beyond that just sounds like someone's kidding themself.

Finished watching Alan Wake. I basically didn't understand it at all, because I have a dumb brain. But it was very entertaining and interesting, and the performances were all amazing. Nice work.

the ending to fallen order whips complete ass, and getting to experience it unspoiled is definitely a gaming high point
I thought the writing and story in jedi survivor was great but it’s not andor or anything close. I can only assume anyone who said that just lacked a way to say “Star Wars but good”.

How's Evil West? It looks like something I might enjoy but I've heard nothing at all about it.
Also I'm definitely into this as well from the trailers.
I enjoyed it, decent albeit predictable plot, fun characters, it's an arena action game with your prioritizing foes and using crazy abilities to bring them down but you can get laid low quite quickly.
Star wars stuff really needs to get away from tying themselves to the original movies so directly
Big spoilers for fallen order
Vader showing up was predictable and only ended up making me feel like all these other characters I've spent a whole game with don't actually matter as much as him and Luke and the old shit, it's similar to my problem with episode 9 honestly. Just let other people in the universe have room to themselves.

Normally, I would agree with this sentiment, but
not having the guy whose job it is to hunt and kill all Jedi in this time period show up would be a massive missed opportunity. That is exactly the right context for him to appear and affect the story. You're in HIS base!

I got (accidentally, through my own fault) spoiled on the end of Survivor pretty soon after it came out, when I was about 2/3 of the way through, and it destroyed my motivation to finish. You'll see why.

Star Wars authenticity is measured entirely by proximity to the original trilogy
Gotta have some of those names and planets or it's not real Star Wars

I’ve heard a few people say rhis but I thought the ending was fantastic? It’s earned and makes thematic sense as a lesson Cal has to learn about fear and grief. It’s pretty standard Star Wars stuff. Is it because the “twist” is obvious? I don’t really feel like it being unexpected was the point. From the perspective of the characters it was understandable, even if as an audience you saw it coming a mile away. The motivations behind each of the characters decisions made sense to me so I found it a satisfying ending
Not wanting to link the vid but the red letter media guys just kinda going down the star wars checklist is a huge bummer.
I am even checked out of Mandalorian cause it stopped being even vaguely its own thing.
Yeah, I was enjoying the Mandalorian, it was neat seeing pulpy stories set in that universe that didn't revolve around the saaaaame characters... and then the final episode of season 2 happens and the show goes HEY REMEMBER ME and I noped out hard.

The only thing you lose between the first one and this is your number of health stims, which get reset to I think 2 and a bit of health/force bar. Every ability is there from the get go, just maybe not at maximum power so no huge group push etc, but you can get back there pretty damn fast. But double jump, grab, wallrun all those movement skills are baseline.
Hm. Smite was a game that I played a lot until it (and Overwatch) helped me discover that I'm susceptible to loot box bullshit. Then they did some real side eye stuff including queer stereotyping, edge lord "jokes", and recently did the whole AI voice acting contract thing.
Haven't read up on the announcement, but I'm willing to bet people's purchased cosmetics aren't coming over to the new game for free.
I've been kind of watching the Smite World Qualifiers and thinking about getting back into Smite, the only downside being having a kid and you never know how long a game is going to go.
Interested to see if all the gods are in there already or if they're going to slowly add them in considering that trailer only showed characters from Smite's launch.

Pooro, I get your frustration, but you gotta understand: in a Star Wars game, the jokes are just naturally going to feel
