It's over 9000!
But seriously, how I usually find out what ballpark I'm in is I apply these formulas.
Food. $21 per day. I base this on $7 per meal. You can be flexable with it and eat one good meal and scrimp by on what's left for the day. At the very least it gives you a number to play with.
Travel. Depends. If by plane, the cheapest you can get. Your best bet is to fly directly out of a large airport as opposed to a regional one (for me that's Chicago instead of Kalamazoo). If you can't get a ride to said airport, see about getting a ride to the nearest Amtrak or Greyhound station. Unless you're out in the sticks, one should be withing a 30 min (and yes, people from Michigan measure distance in time because we travel and a constant rate of speed, over the speed limit) drive.
If you're driving yourself I usually overestimate how much I'll need for gas. Bang out a google map from your city to Seattle, add an additional 20% of mileage to that round trip total, take the current price of gas and add 40 cents per gallon, and find the highway miles per gallon of what your driving. Add a shot of Jager. Now take all of that and go like so:
(total miles) / mpg = gallons of gas needed
(gallons of gas needed) * price per gallon = your gas cost
Pad the hell out of it set yourself a target to shoot for. In this case you give yourself a few extra hundred miles to take into account route distance differences or if you get lost. The extra per gallon cost in gas never really turns out to be that much extra.
Hotels. (Cost per night) + (taxes [friggin plural!]) * (number of nights) = your total. Do NOT underestimate the taxes part. You're paying sales tax, accommodation tax, and probably some fees. They add up quick. It's 3:36AM and I'm too lazy to find those figures myself. I suspect a less ignorant forum'er will come to my rescue on this.
$45 because PAX ain't no charity.
Ok, so now that you are transported, fed, housed, and allowed in. You need spending cash. I recommend at least $100. Silly things happen out here, and silly things require cash. And I do mean CASH, use the plastic for all the above crap.
Tally up your score without going over the suggested retail price of your showcase and don't forget to do your part to help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered. Good night everyone.

Why did I somehow think that I was going to be that "forum'er"...
Total tax for a hotel in Seattle is 15.6% a night.
For example... a room at the Crowne at the PA rate is listed at $149 per night... but with tax that comes out to $172.25 a night. So even if you stay just the 2 nights of PAX ( Friday and Saturday night ) - You're looking at minimum of $344 for the hotel portion of the cost. Now if you're staying with other people, don't forget to divide that number between everybody in the room to find the cost for a single person.
