Guess the fuck what. I just fucking turned 21 a half hour ago. On my way home from Safeway picking up a bottle of sake, I got pulled over for a headlight out. The cop wished me a happy birthday and told me to fix the headlight.
I've had some nasty sake that tastes very rough and liquery. Apparently the good stuff is much more delicious, but I'm too embarrassed to order it and look like a huge weeaboo to all my peers.
If a college recommends 3-4 years of social studies/history, how serious are they? And is Philosophy considered social studies?
alternate post: Happy Birthday, sorry about the dead hooker in your bedroom.

I know. The closest I've been is Newark airport. It's sad. I've been most everywhere in the U.S. several times but for some reason never to NYC. I've been to Buffalo. And Niagara Falls...but I don't think that counts.
I do believe Philosophy is lumped under social studies.
at a college it'd either be humanities, assuming they didn't have a philosophy department, which I would guess that most public universities do.
Anyway, colleges just care about your GPA, SAT/ACT scores and if you're parents are filthy rich. Pretty much every public school system in the nation will give you the "gen ed" courses colleges "look for" by the time you graduate, whether you want them or not, so I wouldn't fret over that too much.
if you don't have what they want they laugh at you, call you dumb, and send emails to all their other college buddies across the nation telling them to not let you in

Sneaky way to get around SAT scores:
Go to a Jr. College for two years. Get really good grades, then transfer to a regular college and finish up your schooling there. You get a fancy 4 year degree, for almost half the cost and never have to take the SAT's.

Okay, thanks, makes me feel better. I'm mostly concerned with the whole even being considered thing, because it kind of says "required units" and then "history: 4 years" on CollegeBoard.com. egh...
Ironically, I'm talking about NYU. I think I like New York. I just don't really remember. I need to go again.
